About Add Watermark to PDF

A watermark is a visible mark stamped onto a document to communicate ownership, confidentiality, or status. Unlike basic tools that add a removable annotation layer, Romow bakes the watermark directly into each page's pixel data โ€” making it a permanent part of the document that cannot be stripped by PDF editors.

Common use cases include: freelancers watermarking design proofs before client approval, lawyers marking draft contracts "NOT FINAL", businesses stamping confidential reports before distribution, and photographers protecting PDF portfolios. Watermarks are also used to mark document versions โ€” "DRAFT", "APPROVED", "COPY", or any custom label.

Text watermarks let you choose any text, font size, colour, opacity, and position. The five position options are: centre-diagonal (the classic look), top-left, top-right, bottom-left, and bottom-right. Opacity runs from 5% to 100% โ€” 30โ€“50% is the sweet spot for visible but non-obtrusive marks. Colours can be set to any hex value.

Image watermarks accept JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP. PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result. Your logo or signature will be composited onto each page at your chosen position.
