Top Four Best Kept Secret Islands

I love to travel and the thought of having a week off from work with no one to disturb me is really alluring. But the world is a small place and nearly every tiny island paradise has been discovered and already populated with hordes of raving tourists. You will get the palm trees and the beaches, but you’ll also get a whole lot of tourists and the problems associated with them. But to be fair you won’t really get a pristine untouched island either!

1. Little Corn Island is located about 45 miles from the eastern shore of Nicaragua. The island is tiny with a population of only 800 people and it’s really isolated. The island is truly gorgeous with the mandatory Caribbean beaches, cheap food, roomy and affordable accommodation and don’t forget the hammocks swaying in the palms of the beaches! How come no one has found it yet? Location! Reaching the island is a terror with, a half-hour boat trip on choppy waters from Big Corn, no roads and no night life, and no real restaurants! Oh yeah and no TV too!

2. Mona Island is another really isolated island located off the coast of Puerto Rico; Mona Island is another reason to love ocean islands as it has no resorts you can opt for a tent on the beach to be really close to nature. Pristine beaches, beautiful scenery and a night sky filled with all the heavenly stars you can see. Snorkeling is another really great pastime as the underwater landscape is teeming with 270 species of tropical fish, coral trees as well as a plethora of weirdly colored sponges.

3. Giglio is located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a few miles off the west shore of Italy. It belongs collectively to Perugia town, Pisa as well as the Florence family of Medici. The island has a terrific island history as its been populated since the Stone Age, plundered by the Saracens, the pirate Barbarossa, used as a military outpost by civilization as ancient as the Etruscans, Romans as well as the Abbey of Fontane. The town has a really romantic feel with narrow winding streets and archways with battlements, exterior stairs, sacred relics and secret piazzas. The local wine is really great and food can make your mouth water. Favorite pastimes include bird watching and trekking. The island is pristine with almost 90% being as yet undiscovered and you are guaranteed a lovely travel experience.

4. Pohnpei has adventure and mystery along with a great tropical island location in the Pacific oceans among the states of Micronesia. Mystery surrounds the ancient ruins of Nan Madol, a city which is man built but was abandoned for unknown reasons. The island is carpeted with falls and rainforests as well as surrounded with a mind blowing tropical reef.
