Generally, the prices will be listed in the form of pesos, however. Keep in mind that bringing more than $300 USD into Mexico will result in a fee from customs. To cash in your United States dollars for Mexican pesos, you will want to visit a bank or exchange booth, which is called a “Casa de Cambio.” Also keep in mind that money can also be exchanged at most hotels in Puerto Vallarta.
Water Contamination in Puerto Vallarta
Many people are afraid of drinking the water in Puerto Vallarta because it is known to be unsafe in other areas of Mexico, such as Cancun. At hotels and restaurants, it is likely that the water will not be contaminated because there are stricter regulations in Puerto Vallarta than other Mexican cities. That being said, it is a good idea to opt for boiled or bottled water whenever you possibly can. Not drinking water at all can also be a good idea. Remember that fruits and vegetables may also be contaminated.
Transportation in Puerto Vallarta
When visiting Puerto Vallarta, it is unlikely that you will want to bother renting a car. The city is known to be very crowded and for a tourist who does not know their way around very much, driving can be bothersome. Hire a taxi to take you where you need to go, but keep in mind that you will want to find out how much you will be paying beforehand. Also remember that you will want to visit the destination that you originally intended. Many taxi drivers are known to earn a commission by transporting tourists to certain restaurants or other attractions. Public buses are another very cost efficient way to get around without so much hassle.
