1. Mackinac Island, Michigan- Mackinac Island is Michigan’s greatest tourist getaway. The island is full of Victorian charm, and has been kept that way throughout the years. Very quiet and clean, the only modes of transportation allowed on the island include the horse drawn carriage and bicycle. Mackinac Island features a wide array of tourist attractions including the island’s famous “Lilac Festival.”
2. Dearborn, Michigan- The Henry Ford is one of Michigan’s most beloved tourist attractions. Located in Dearborn, Michigan the Henry Ford is home to several attractions. The Henry Ford museum is perfect for any automobile enthusiast as it showcases the history of Ford Motor Company. In addition to showcasing the history of Ford Motor Company, the museum also features various other exhibits pertaining to American history.
Also on the property of the Henry Ford is Greenfield Village. Greenfield Village is kept as true to history as possible. From a carousel dating back to 1913, to a ride onboard the 1931 Ford Model AA bus, Greenfield Village is a step back in time for the whole family.
3. Frankenmuth, Michigan- Frankenmuth is frequently referred to as “Michigan’s Little Bavaria”, and with good reason. Originally settled by German missionaries, Frankenmuth proudly celebrates its German heritage. Frankenmuth is home to annual beer festivals as well as Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. Bronner’s is known as the world’s largest Christmas store is as large as 1.7 football fields, and is located on 27 acres. During the Christmas season, visitors can revel in the ½ mile light display known as “Christmas Lane.” Bronner’s is open 361 days a year and welcome over 2 million visitors a year.
4. Grand Rapids, Michigan-Grand Rapids Michigan is home to many tourist attractions including the Frederik Meijer gardens. The Frederick Meijer botanical garden features exotic plants from across the globe. In addition to the garden, downtown Grand Rapids Michigan also boasts a dynamic nightlife. Featuring 75 different restaurants and various nightclubs add glitz to the already beautiful Grand Rapids.
5. Detroit, Michigan- Detroit Michigan may not seem to be a tourist destination, but in fact it offers quite a few tourist attractions. Featuring 3 state of the art casinos and a wide array of dining options Detroit Michigan is a big city at its best. Many of the cities original architecture remains alongside new buildings. Campus Martius located in the heart of Detroit offers outdoor ice skating right in the middle of the city. The theatre district showcases everything from the Second City comedy club, to Hockey Town Café and everything in between; Detroit Michigan’s nightlife is second to none.
