Five Flying Activities To Pass The Time

When we go aboard an airplane and have to fly for long distances, the hours can seem like days. Nothing is more boring than sitting in a confined space with a bunch of strangers. For the extrovert, this is not so bad because they tend to love talking with strangers, but the vast majority of us find ourselves searching for something to do. For those folks, here is a list of five things that you can do to effectively pass the time on your long flight.

puzzle

1. Read A Book - This is the most common thing that people do to pass the time on long flights and with good reason. Reading can make time go by very fast if you have a really good book. Just be sure you are not trying out something new on a flight. Make sure it is a book that you already know that you are interested in or you might find yourself reading last year’s magazines.

2. Bring A Rubik’s Cube - This fun little maze of a game can pass the time very effectively if you are not already a master at solving it. In the course of a three hour flight, you might just figure the darn thing out. If not, then at least you will pass the time trying.

3. Sleep - Sleeping is another common activity while flying, though it is not always easy for everyone to do. If you would rather sleep your way through the flight, you might consider staying up later the night before, or talking with your doctor about a possible light sleeping aid.

4. Work on a Laptop - Most airlines still allow a laptop on board, and you can really pass the time in this way. It will allow you to play games, work, write emails, or simply surf the flight away. A laptop makes flying much quicker, and much easier to deal with for hours on end.

5. Bring a Book Of Puzzles - Puzzles on a flight go together like peanut butter and jelly. You can literally pass the entire flight away with a single book of crossword puzzles. Take some time to really pick a tough one out, but not so tough that you find yourself giving up on them.

Passing the time on a long flight is not that tough if you give it a little thought before climbing on board. The biggest key is to make sure that you bring the stuff with you, because once you are airborne, their is no turning around. Bring some of these great flying activities with you to make that next flight a bit shorter.
