Cruise Vacation Guides - Things To Prepare

Going on a cruise could be one of the most memorable vacations that you could have in your life. The sun, the wind, the food and the ambiance of being pampered in every way is worth it even if you have to save at least two years just to have enough money for your dream vacation. TV commercials could really back up their claim that you’ll have the time of your life when you are there.

However, it could be a nightmare for some because of some unforeseen events. After all, there are lots of preparations that need to be done before you can step on the cruise and enjoy the rest of the way. The preparations don’t even end when you step on the cruise. It ends when you arrive at your home with great stories to tell, pictures and videos to show.

The best time to book a cruise is at least six months before the departure date. More than that is too early and less than three months is too near. The reasons why you have to book in advance are the requirements for travel. These cruises will not remind you to get your travel papers done before docking time. Make sure of your destinations and check if there are requirements for entry. Passports and Visa could be required in some countries of destination so call your travel agent for the proper requirements.

When you already have the required documents in place, make sure you will arrive there in time. Cruise ships don’t get delayed except for extreme cases and they are on the dot when it comes to travel time. Most of the time, you still have to travel before you can actually get to the docking harbor. Make sure you will have enough time between your flight and your docking time. If possible book an overnight hotel so that you could arrive the day before the actually cruise leaves.

Aside from paper requirements to board, you need to bring medications for the trip. Remember that you’ll be in an unfamiliar place and you’ll face the sea all the time. Have sun screen lotion for your skin as the sun in cruises are often stronger that the beach. If you are not really familiar with the seas, you need to bring medicines for sea sickness. While you’re at it, bring along medications for flu and other simple ailments. They will have those on board but the prices are really exorbitant. You’ll have no choice but to spend more money instead of saving on these things.

Lastly is your luggage, its bad enough that you have motion sickness but if you throw in a lost luggage incident, you’ll go insane! ID tags are plain and simple things that you can buy for your bags but it will potentially save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in luggage. If you’re traveling with your family, assign each one a bag to carry to avoid confusion.

Remember that preparation is the number one key in any event especially in cruises since there’s no turning back once you’re there.
