The WWE pay per view The Bash was held on Sunday night and was everything that you hoped it would be on most fronts. The pay per view gave the WWE fans their money’s worth and even managed a couple of surprises along the way. Here are the results of the night’s matches:

Edge & Chris Jericho win Triple Threat Tag Team Match (New Unified Tag Team Champions)

In what can only be described as an absolute shocker, the team of Edge and Chris Jericho took over the unified championship tag belts. This move was brilliant on the part of the WWE simply because it will shine new light on a floundering tag team division. Edge and Jericho make a great tag team, and they now can go to any brand at any time and defend the belts. This means much more exciting television for the WWE, and an exciting future for the tag team division.

Rey Mysterio def. Chris Jericho (New Intercontinental Champion)

This match was also a bit of a surprise, but seeing what they had planned for Jericho helped it to make sense. The match itself was high octane excitement from start to finish, and nothing less was expected. Excellent ring work made this one special.

Tommy Dreamer wins ECW Championship Scramble Match

Though it was thought that Christian would take the title back, the WWE actually swerved us again by having Dreamer retain the title. Dreamer makes a good ECW champion right now, but he needs to get into a single feud with one of the younger stars now. This group stuff is not good for the title.

Michelle McCool def. Melina (New Women’s Champion)

Melina had a great run as champion, but it was time to put the belt on McCool. She is a great heel, and should be able to make the championship more exciting in the long run.

WWE Champion Randy Orton def. Triple H (Three Stages of Hell Match)

In a brutal match up of two men that clearly hate one another, Randy Orton did exactly what I thought he would do. He cheated and retained the title. HHH not winning the WWE championship yet again is not a bad thing. It is time for some new challengers, and for HHH to help some other younger stars to get over with the fans. Maybe he will go on another heel run soon.

John Cena def. The Miz

In a predictable, but disappointing match, the Miz was destroyed by Cena. The WWE really messed this one up by putting Cena over yet again. They could have really elevated the Miz who has been red hot as a heel lately, if they would only let Cena lose at a pay per view. I guess that will never happen, because tonight was the perfect time.

Jeff Hardy def. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk (By Disqualification; Punk retains)

Another great move by the WWE in making CM Punk fully engage his heel turn. The best match of the night as far as wrestling is concerned was culminated by Punk cheating to retain the title. This should make for a great feud, and Hardy is still wildly over with the fans. It is a win/win for sports entertainment.

Dolph Ziggler def. The Great Khali

The best two things about this match was Ziggler winning, and the return of Kane. Kane and Khali feuding could be funny to watch.

All in all, The Bash was a great pay per view. I do wish the WWE would let go of Cena a little, and let him be beaten just once. The Miz is a huge star waiting to happen, and they really dropped the ball with that match. Other than that, the pay per view rated near the top of non-Wrestlemania pay per views for the year.
