Terrell Owens has not exactly been a team player in his years in the NFL. He certainly is a very good team player when he is catching passes and scoring touchdowns. Let him not get the rock for a game, and watch him melt down all over the place. As good of a player as Terrell Owens is, he has shown that he is a Cancer to every single team that signs him eventually. Buffalo has now signed Terrell Owens and thinks that he might be the difference maker for an offense that has struggled in recent years. With an average quarterback, and one star reciever already, the potential for problems with Terrell Owens is actually pretty high.

Terrell Owens is a player that can certainly elevate those players around him when he is on. Buffalo is actually a team that could truly be a great fit if Owens would simply keep his mouth shut, and play football. He would need to accept his role, regardless of what that role is. And there is the problem. With a young quarterback like Trent Edwards, Terrell Owens is not going to get the ball like he is used to. Edwards is already comfortable with star receiver Lee Evans. That will not change with Terrell Owens joining the team. Problem number one right there.

Buffalo already is having a troubling off season with the off the field problems of running back Marshawn Lynch. Lynch was arrested and will likely get at least a four game suspension to start the season in 2009. That means the Bills will likely struggle in the running game. When a team can not run the football, they tend to go desperate with the pass. This could be great news for Terrell Owen’s numbers. He will love that. The problem is, he will get used to it as well. When Lynch comes back to the team, he will be focal point of the Buffalo offense. Bad news for Terrell Owens and bad news for Buffalo because of it.

There is always that chance that Owens will do what every single T.O. fan has prayed for over the years. We all have hoped that his newest team will bring out a more mature, accepting, team oriented Owens. We hope that he will want to eliminate his poor attitude, and fall in line with the team. The problem is, T.O. has had that opportunity on several occasions throughout his career. He had the perfect situation in Dallas, and still blew up. Buffalo does not strike me as a landing spot that Owens is going to be happy in. Stranger things have certainly happened, but I would not hold my breath in Buffalo.

Look on the bright side though, Buffalo fans……You will get plenty of NFL press.
