The 2009 NFL football season is upon us and it almost seems impossible. Was it really that long ago that the Arizona Cardinals gave the Pittsburgh Steelers all they can handle in the Super Bowl? More importantly, what are the burning questions that are being asked in NFL football circles? Here are some of the hottest NFL questions that are about to be answered, along with some predictions as to how they might turn out.

Can Brett Favre Really Lead the Vikings To A Super Bowl?

Favre may be getting much older, but he has some very important tools left in his repertoire. The biggest reason the Vikings needed Favre was not his arm…It was his confidence. Favre will bring a winning attitude to the Vikings, and just might bring an extra win or two as well. A Super Bowl ring? I think that is asking a bit much, even with Adrian Peterson.

Will The Explosively Annoying Terrell Owens Be A Hit In Buffalo?

The real question is will Terrell Owens blow up Buffalo? Owens will get his catches in, and will make a difference in Buffalo. The problem is not production, nor has it ever been. The problem is when Edwards starts to falter, or throws more than two consecutive passes to anyone but Owens. Then the production won’t matter, just like in Dallas.

Speaking of Dallas, Can the Cowboys Finally Get a Playoff Win?

The truth here is, maybe. The Cowboys are woefully thin at some important positions, and the secondary is chief among them. If the Cowboys can find a way to put together a secondary, they could be a lot of trouble for the rest of the NFC. Still, they also have some question marks at receiver. This is not as troubling as the defensive backs, but it could also be a problem if Williams does not step up.

Can the Steelers Repeat as Super Bowl Champions?

The short answer to this is yes. The odds of this happening is slim, however, simply because of the parity in today’s NFL. I see the Steelers going as far as injuries allow. In other words, if they stay healthy, they have as good a shot as anyone.

Can The Cardinals Duplicate Last Year’s Success?

I think the Cardinals will fall hard and fast this season, in large part due to the quarterback situation. What quarterback situation you ask? The one that says Kurt Warner has never played two consecutive seasons in his football career. He did it last year, but what about this year? Old age says he is due to get hurt. Add to that the fact that Bouldin is still unhappy and the Cardinals are ripe for a decline.

Who Will Be This Years Surprise Team?

I think the Houston Texans will shock everybody this season. They already were doing it when the season ended last year, and now they are primed for a monster season by their standards. I see the playoffs for the Texans this year….finally. Steve Slaton will take them there.
