The New York Yankees did it after all. They said they would win a World Championship and then went out and did just that. Never mind that they spent more money than some entire countries spend on the National budget. The bottom line is the the New York Yankees are once again the champions of the baseball world. Is it really that simple? Should we just acknowledge a job well done and leave it at that? If we do, then we are not being very good sportswriters are we now?

The Yankees literally bought the World Series title this season, just as they have done for years. The simple fact of the matter is, the majority of Major League Baseball teams out there were lost before they ever got started. In a world where the rich prosper again and again while the poor desperately try to join them, I guess it is simply a statement of our current society. Whatever the case, the Yankees were far and beyond the highest paid and best equipped team to take the field to play a baseball game.

Surely this article will upset a Yankee fan or two. Really there is no reason for that, because the Yankees are doing nothing wrong. They are simply playing by the rules that baseball as a whole has said is okay. If they did not go after and pay for the highest priced, most talented ballplayers, it would be an insult to the Yankee fans. They have the money, and are so obligated to try to field the best team possible. Boy they succeeded in a way that was not even funny.

Additionally, the New York Yankees still had to merge all that talent. For this reason, Yankee manager Joe Girardi deserves the Coach of the year award hands down. There are so many egos on this team it would make your head spin. The bottom line is that they did not play as though they had huge egos. Not for the most part, anyhow.

This current Yankee lineup was so much better than the rest of the league it is scary. Pitching, hitting, and even baserunning and defense was stellar. They had every single thing that a World Series Championship team should have, and then some.

Regardless of why or how they got there, the Yankees are once again the best in the Major Leagues. If people have an issue with how they got there, then they need to fix the rules and allow the smaller market teams a fighting chance. Then again, who would want a baseball world that did not have the Yankees to hate? Not this writer.
