TNA Wrestling has now decided that the poster child for their organization, the person who represents the best of their company, should be Kurt Angle. Angle was recently arrested for breaking a restraining order against his girlfriend, and also assorted other charges including having HGH. The decision to keep the world championship on Angle is one that most wrestling fans are finding to be puzzling at best.

A man is certainly innocent until proven guilty, but there are other issues to look at here. First of all, why would Angle have human growth hormones? Second, why would a restraining order be filed in the first place? Finally, this is not Angle’s first brush with the law as he was also arrested for DUI not long ago. He was acquitted of the DUI, but the bottom line is that the law does not follow you without reason. If you are being arrested over and over, their is a good chance that you are not doing the right thing. Angle is clearly having some issues.

Add to this the fact that the woman said that Angle abused her, and was allegedly erasing text messages and photographs on her phone to hide the injuries, and the entire situation becomes even more murky.

What is amazing is that in light of all this, TNA decided to let Angle keep the belt at the Hard Justice Pay Per View on Sunday Night. He could have easily dropped the belt at the pay per view, and have the story lines that are ongoing stay intact. TNA would be showing that getting in trouble with the law and having HGH is not okay with them as a company. They could have made a statement. Instead, they kept Angle as the head guy for the company, and made themselves appear as though they have no moral compass whatsoever.

Many felt that Angle would drop the belt on the Thursday night taping of Impact instead. This would give the writers ample time to find an angle that made sense. That did not happen either. It is obvious that TNA is standing by Kurt Angle. They are making more and more decisions that are killing their product, and this one tops the list. If TNA is going to have Angle as their poster child, it will not take long for people to start turning off their television sets. Angle was once an Olympic champion and American hero. In recent years, he is showing some dangerous signs of an epic collapse.

For one, I like Kurt Angle. He has always been a fan’s wrestler, and for the most part kept his nose clean. When you start getting arrested over and over, however, you lose your spot in the good guy department. Especially when it involves the alleged abuse of a woman. Here is to hoping TNA will do the right thing, and that Kurt Angle gets it together soon. We miss the Olympic Champion.
