Boxing training is not an expensive form of exercise in terms of gears and equipments requirements. All you need is to find the right boxing instructor which have their own gym or free agent boxing instructor and then find a gym or place where you can train, and a few boxing equipment and gears. Here are the essential boxing training gears/equipments that you would need for your boxing training:
Boxing Apparel
First thing that you would need, as in all other sports, is of course your apparel. Boxing apparels come in various forms and types. If you want to look good while doing your boxing training, you may opt to purchase those traditional boxing shorts which are light weight and absorbs sweat easily. Your upper garment would depend on what ever you are comfortable wearing even if you are already dampen with body sweat. For shoe requirements, there are special boxing shoes but let the professional boxer wear them. As for you, you are better off with any cross training shoes that you may want to buy.
Boxing Gears

Now, comes the meaty part, boxing gears. Topping this list of requirements is the boxing gloves. Boxing gloves come in various sizes and weights. Find a good brand of boxing gloves and select among those brands the size which fits your hands comfortably. Do not choose the glove size which is too tight or too loose. Having a loose glove would cause hand injury while having too tight gloves can cause hand skin rashes caused by the friction when hitting the punching bag or speedballs. There are two types of gloves that you can buy and their uses depends on what type of boxing you are going to do. First is the bag gloves which is used for punching heavy bags is padded enough to protect your hand. Choose the bag gloves with Velcro for ease of use. The other type of boxing gloves is the sparring/boxing gloves which are geared for more advanced boxers and for boxing with a sparring partner. These kinds of gloves are padded well enough to protect your boxing hands when punching your sparring partner or even the heavy bag. Choose the ones with Velcro for easy use.
Aside from the gloves, you would also need a good pair of hand wraps to properly protect your boxing hands. There are ready made hand wraps available in the market which also come in various sizes or lengths. If you can find a branded hand wraps in your liking, you may opt to make your own hand wraps using old cotton cloth or shirts. Just cut a long piece of cloth that would be enough to cover the back and palm of your hands. The ideal length for hand wraps is 180 inches, enough to fully wrap your hands for protection.
If you are doing sparring exercises in boxing, it is a must to have a headgear to protect your precious head from the sparring partner’s punches. Make sure to by a headgear the fits perfectly on your head and stays fixed even when receiving heavy punches.
Another essential gear when doing sparring exercises is the mouth guard. Mouth guards protect your teeth and prevent them from breaking due to heavy punches. There are varieties of mouth guards available in the market or you can ask your dentist to make a customized mouth guard that fits the teeth in your mouth.
To protect other parts of your body, such as groin and chest, you may also purchase a groin protector for men and chest protector for ladies.
Boxing equipments
When doing boxing training on your own, you will need to have a heavy bag or more commonly known as the punching bag. Without this bag, you can not train on boxing on your own. Heavy bags are either made of canvas, vinyl or leather casing filed with hard or soft materials. Choose the type of heavy bag that suits your budget and boxing needs. This heavy bag comes with a built-in mounting device for attaching to your ceiling. Or if you have the budget you can buy a separate movable mounting made of metal.
Aside from the heavy bag, you may also buy a speedball. Speedball is essential for speed punching exercise. It develops your timing and motor skills when it comes to punching.
