They say that it’s easy to tell what kind of person one is with the shoes they wear. Others even judge how deep an individual’s pockets are by checking out their footwear. Judging a person based on a clothing item might seem very superficial, but there is something there.
First is on the choice of shoes. If one owns and wears dressy shoes for example, then this person must have good reasons for it. A simple motivation is because its what his or her lifestyle requires. This then reveals the places the person frequents and the type of crowd he or she mixes with.
There are those that are aspirants of other people’s path, which is where big brands come in to play. In controlled environments where like and like meet, there’s a certain dress code that is common sense to everyone who really are alike, but is not known to those who are outside the “circle.” Uncommon things like what brands, styles, look, and functionalities are within the undefined parameters of the environment, and what are not. Wearing a branded item is not enough. Picking the right item in that store is also critical. If the motivation behind purchase is to carry the brand alone, it can give away a person’s place in the circle. It’s not the capacity to purchase that defines the character of those wearing branded shoes, it’s the true connection with the designer’s ideas for the footwear that matters. When one is real and genuine, true benefit weighs more than the brand itself. In fact, they’re even comfortable to do away with big names if they find better ones that serve their purpose better. For those trying to fit in though, the brand is the end goal and the only way to cut it.
The state of their footwear tells a lot of stories on its own. Aspirants would use their branded shoes way past their days of glory even just because it is branded. While genuine people would have run down shoes as called for by its function and the occasion. For example, a genuine person will not wear worn out branded items to important events because they buy the brand to get across the right impression on their personal style and stature. Once the item fails to provide this, the brand becomes useless. But there are occasions when they buy the branded items for its feature such as durability and comfort. In these items, they will get their moneys worth by wearing it out until the end because that is exactly what they paid for.
Probing deeper, past the style and the state, are the marks and scars that the shoes carry. The less a pair has, means the person doesn’t use it much. It can mean many things. He can have more of the same type of shoes to alternate with, or maybe he doesn’t frequent gatherings where he currently is. It can even mean the person is more careful in his footsteps and his items.
The shoes indicator may not be accurate, but it can give good leads to the path the wearer takes.
