On Monday, Samsung unveiled its new “Blue Earth” mobile phone, made entirely from recycled plastic and powered by a small but potent solar panel. Samsung showed the remarkable new phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain and initial reports indicate that the flat but somehow shapely new phone is receiving rave reviews from industry insiders.
Although Samsung did not reveal a suggested retail price for the new eco-friendly phone or announce an official launch date, critics seemed impressed with the small blue phone with a low carbon footprint.
Blue Earth is made entirely from recycled plastic products, and Samsung reports that no toxic chemicals are used in the production of either the housing or the internal electronics of the phone.
Besides the breakthrough solar power option, Blue Earth also includes an energy-efficient traditional AC electronic charger (very handy to have on cloudy days, of course), and a large backlit touchscreen similar to that of the Apple iPhone, but more oval in shape, and with an energy efficient backlit display.
The phone also includes Bluetooth capability, and energy efficient media player, and all the usual bells and whistles you would expect to find in any modern smart phone. The only difference is that this “smarter” phone can actually charge itself while you talk or surf the Web. Assuming of course, there is at least a little sun out to activate the Blue Earth’s small solar panels.
Samsung has also just introduced its new Omnia HD smart phone, which may lack solar power, but has an amazing feature set to make even iPhone users drool. The Omnia HD will record high-definition video, and can instantly play back a recorded video on any HDTV.
The Omnia HD also features a brilliant 3.7 inch touchscreen, with an impressive 640×360 resolution for standard playback. Of course, this also means that any high-definition video recorded is scaled down when played back on the phones built-in screen.
On top of the amazing high-definition video features, the Omnia features an eight megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi and High-Speed Packet Access, for mobile Internet download speeds as high as 7.2 MB per second. Wow! There’s also a fully featured MP3/media player, and a standard 16 GB of memory which can easily be expanded to 32MBs via the phones microSDHC card slot.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but with features like these, expect the Omnia HD to retail significantly higher than the iPhone.

Technology indeed is taking a big leap on almost anything and everything under the sun.
Speaking of the sun, this is one product that will benefit all the cellular phone users.
Imagine a mobile phone not running out of life. You will not worry if the batteries will be dead. Thus, you’ll have more time using it and communicating to other people.
Not to mention being economical, it will cancel the regular task of charging it, minus the “low-bat beep” alerts. It will save time, money and energy
