High impact and low cost are two things that used to never go together in the world of fitness. In recent years, however, exercise options have expanded to include a number of alternatives that are not so expensive. In this article, I will highlight five fitness options that will provide the highest bang for your buck when you go shopping.

1. Resistance bands (cost $5-$50) These little bands are far from the innocent little fashion statements that they appear to be. Used correctly, resistance bands can deliver a high impact fitness regimen. The best part about these little bands are that you can take them anywhere. Make sure to buy the resistance bands that have handles, as they are much easier to maintain good posture with.

2. Weight Balls (cost $15-$200) Medicine balls have long been used by boxers to increase torso, arm, and back strength and they work just as well for us regular folks. The more expensive weight balls are the heavier ones that most of us would not use. The lower weight balls are very inexpensive at around $15. Buy one of these and throw them around awhile. You will quickly understand why Rocky got so much from them.

3. Jump Rope ($5-$30) The good old fashioned jump rope is one of the highest impact fitness exercises we can do to improve our health and it is loads of fun. Get you a jump rope and start hopping today!

4. Neoprene Dumbbells ($10-$30) These are the least expensive options of the dumbbells on the market. Unless you are planning on some serious weight training, there is no reason to go out and drop hundreds for cast iron sets of dumbbells. These little weights will do wonders for your fitness level, and they can be very high impact as well.

5. Chin Up Bar ($20-$50) A good solid chin up bar is beneficial in a number of high impact ways, and is not just for chin ups. You can do all kinds of exercises with this great element. Spend a great deal of time using this to strengthen your arms, back, and shoulders.

Each of these options for fitness are inexpensive, and each of them are high impact when used properly. When shopping for these supplements to your exercise routine, make sure that you price them at several different retail stores, and online shopping sites. There are normally sales going on somewhere at any given time, and you can save even more. The beauty is, however, that even if you do not get them on sale, they will still be inexpensive options.
