Jerusalem is the capital city of the Middle Eastern country of Israel. Thousands of years ago it was established by King David that serves as a capital among the Jewish nations. It is a place set apart by the number of historical events that unfold in the city. It also got a number of holy places that are important to top religions. People coming from different places seek this place to worship.

The city regarded by the Jews as their Holy Land, is a place where tradition meets the modern day era. On one side of the city are old neighborhoods that stand along side modern office towers and high rise buildings. Jerusalem is definitely much more than the old and new landmarks. Its population is so diverse because it is a mix of different nations. Jerusalem is certainly important to some religions today because of some of its popular spots.
Dome of Rock – This golden dome structure is holding the sacred rock where Abraham was supposed to sacrifice his son. For the Muslims, this is the place where there Prophet Mohammed ascended to heaven. This artistic Islamic structure was built by Abd el-Malek. Its walls are filled with the verses from the Quoran.
Yad Vashem – It is a placed established by the Israeli parliament as a memorial ground for over 6 million Jews that died during holocaust. There is museum in the place that displays some pictures and arts from this period. It is also become a place that holds seminars and conferences relating to Holocaust issues.
Mount of Olives – This spot is best visited in the morning where the sun is giving the perfect lightning. You can view several tourist spots from here like Seven Arches Hotel, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, City of David, Kidron Valley among others.
Holy Sepulchre – This is one of the most important Christian shrines in Jerusalem. It was built by Emperor Constantine but was destroyed by Persian invaders then rebuilt again by the crusaders. There are various chapels which could be found here like Golgotha and the Tomb of Christ.
Ein Karem – This small village is surrounded by olive and cypress tress where you will find unique stone houses where artists and sculptors live. There are small cafes and restaurants found in this quiet town. You can also find several churches here as well as the spring of the virgin.
Haas Promenade – This place offers the view of the whole Jerusalem that includes its surrounding walls. This is a perfect place if want to have a picnic because of its shaded spots.
Tomb of the Virgin Mary – According to Christian beliefs this is the place where the Virgin Mary was taken up to heaven during her sleep. The tomb dates back to the first century and a lot of churches have been destroyed and rebuilt surrounding the site.
Jerusalem also got numerous museums and the most notable ones are Bloomfield Science Museum, Museum of Italian Jewish Art, Museum of Italian Jewish Art and Tower of David Museum.
