Places to Visit in Windsor, Canada

Windsor is renowned for being Canada’s southernmost city. From Windsor it is easily possible to see the skyline of Detroit, and it is only the Detroit River which separates the two cities. Though Windsor has been nicknamed the “Rose City” for many years by residents, Windsor is known throughout the world for its automotive industry. There are Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford Motor plants in the city, and many cars are manufactured in each. The mainstay of Windsor’s economy however, is education, tourism, and government services. This beautiful area is a Mecca for tourists who want a rich array of cultural diversity, entertainment, and exciting activities.

Point Pelee National Park

Whether you’re primary interest is in bird-watching, hiking, or cycling, Point Pelee National Park has something to offer you. There are marsh habitats which are home to some of the rarer birds, and there are also woodland areas which are wonderful if you enjoy exploring on foot or on bike. The blackpoll warbler breeds in this area, and many tourists and ornithologists populate the area to spot them. The park is bordered by Lake Erie which is a beautiful place to take part in all kinds of water sports. Point Pelee is one of Canada’s finest National Parks, and is chock full of activities to interest both adults and children.

Ojibway Prairie Complex

This wonderful and exciting complex is actually composed of a vast collection of nature reserves and parks. The Ojibway Prairie Provincial Nature Reserve is a fantastic place to go if you enjoy seeing animals in their natural habitats, and the Spring Garden Natural Area has been designed by conservation specialists to be eco-friendly. The prairie complex is often pretty bleak and quiet, so if you want to take some time out by yourself, or create a romantic atmosphere with a partner, this a place you want to head for. If you are taking the family however, there is a nice educational facility at the Ojibway Nature Center which offers a fully-loaded program of free exhibits aimed at youngsters. They can see lizards, snakes, shrews, bats, and birds at this location.

Caesars Windsor

Though it might not be strikingly obvious with all the nature reserves around, Windsor is actually home to four large casinos. Caesars is the largest and most popular of the four because of the entertainment it provides other than the gaming. If you are interested in a quick flutter, a nice meal, or some world-class entertainment, you will find it at this lively and hopping location in Windsor. One of the nicer things about Caesars is that it is a non-smoking destination which attracts many tourists. It is more than 25 stories tall, and crammed full of casino games and other activities. Staff here are friendly knowledgeable, and helpful, so if you are not sure how to play the games, you can ask for some advice.
