Savannah is a large and well-populated city which is located in the heart of Georgia. Tybee Lighthouse

The lighthouse is located right next to the Island of Tybee which is just east of the city itself. The lighthouse when it was working and functional used to guide sailors into the harbor on dark nights, and there is a definite air of mystique which surrounds the site. It has been rebuilt several different times, which has resulted in it growing to a whopping 134 feet tall. The Tybee lighthouse is open year-round and will provide hours of fodder for your imagination.

Savannah Civic Center

If sports are you thing, or you just fancy watching a really good concert, the Savannah Civic Center is the best place to head to. It was originally constructed to house the Savannah Bees basketball games, but it has become a hotspot for hockey games, music concerts, and traveling theater in addition to the sport. The arena itself is fairly large, and is able to seat almost 10,000 people comfortable. There are ballrooms in the Civic Center and promenades which add to the tradition of the center. This is a friendly and lively place to attend an event, but be sure to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

This curiously named town offers a vast amount of insight into the lives of people who live in shrimping villages in Georgia. The population of the town is very small, and you are sure to receive a lively welcome when you visit. There are excellent seafood restaurants if you want a break from the museums, and the picturesque surroundings of the docks will mesmerize you. Sit around on the docks and watch the shrimp boats loading and unloading their wares. This is a perfect family day out which will prove to be a cultural awakening.
