Rome is best known for being the capital of Italy. It offers a wide-range of sightseeing opportunities for the curious, and is an exciting and dynamic place which attracts tourists in their droves. St. Peter’s Basilica

It is alleged that one of the apostles of Jesus is buried at this site, which makes it a premium attraction for many tourists. The tradition is for the Popes to be buried in the tomb located below the Basilica’s altar. The Coliseum

This unique structure reminds visitors of the history of Rome and its connections within the Roman Empire. This enormous amphitheater was once filled with eager civilians who were hoping for some great entertainment. Though the amphitheater itself is largely in ruins due to erosion and a series of strong earthquakes, many people feel that the Coliseum is symbolic of Rome, and the greatest architecture that was ever designed by an Italian artist. The Coliseum is a leading tourist attraction and you are welcome to visit at any time. At one point, over 50,000 people sat around in the seats and saw public spectacles, and drank fine wines. This leading museum, and prominent tourist attraction allows visitors to get a real feel for what life was like as an Ancient Roman. The entire museum is designed to take visitors through the ages, and detail Roman civilization and how it has developed. There are a variety of models to be seen at the museum, and modern reproductions accompany original works of arts for the enjoyment of tourists. This is a place you cannot fail to enjoy, especially because there is a huge planetarium in the same building. When you wander around these areas you will receive a history lesson which is not boring and certainly not dull.
