Kansas City, Missouri is an enormous and exciting place to visit. The city is by far the largest and most populous of any in Missouri, and is located where the two major rivers join. Swope Park
This enormous and expansive park is one of the largest municipal parks in America. If you love to explore the great outdoors, there will be plenty here to tempt your fancy. Two golf courses are on offer for your enjoyment, but if you prefer to play Frisbee golf, there are facilities available for that also. Soccer fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and baseball diamonds are easy to locate if you are thinking of making a day of it for the whole family. There is also a unique and wonderful outdoor theater which can seat up to 8000 visitors. This theater stands next to the nature center which serves to save and rehabilitate wild animals which have been injured and brought to the center. The whole area of Swope Park is so diverse and entertaining that it is like a little piece of Kansas City paradise.
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art
This contemporary art museum is definitely worth a visit, particularly if you are into work that needs a lot of interpretation. The museum offers collections by Crosby Kemper Jr, and Bebe as part of the permanent section. There are older works to be found here also which provide an interesting contrast with the other exhibits. If you get tired of looking at art, there is an exquisite little café within the building which serves a delicious range of gourmet contemporary cuisine. The museum offers a friendly and fun-packed day trip for the whole family, and is open year-round.
Kansas City Ballet
If you get a spare evening and you are looking for some culture, why not try a performance from the Kansas City Ballet company? There are three seasons in the ballet season which offer contemporary and classical ballets. The Lyric Theater which houses the ballet is spacious and accommodating to all. The 25 professional dancers and the multitudes of apprentices will be sure to give you a night you will never forget. It is important to book tickets in advance to this popular attraction to avoid disappointment.

Really? That’s what it’s BEST known for? It was only a minor battle on the periphery of the war. I grew up in KC and the city’s involvement in the civil war is just a small footnote.
I imagine the city is much better known for its food, major league sports and jazz.
