Must See Places In Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City, Missouri is one of the few places in the United States where one can truly see the breadth of history. The city is simply loaded with historical landmarks, and you would be hard pressed to see them all in one visit. Not only is the surface of Kansas City a sight to see, but the underground limestone caves gives you twice the wonder for your time. Kansas City has a “subtropolis” of caverns that were once quarries that now serve as a business district. It is near impossible to imagine all the things to see in Kansas City, Missouri, but this article will mention some that can not be missed.

One of the first things to see in Kansas City is The Hallmark Visitors Center. This neat place chronicles the history of the Hallmark Company, and it is fascinating from start to finish. Greeting cards have never been so interesting.

Swope Park is another must see location in Kansas City. This park is huge, (the second largest in the nation for urban parks) and you can literally lose an entire day without even beginning to enjoy all it has to offer. Their are so many trails there that you could not possibly enjoy them all in one visit. They have trails for everyone, as evidenced by the fact that they have a trail specifically for the blind. Also, the Kansas City Zoo is found in Swope Park. This zoo is one of the premiere zoos in the area, and features all the usual animals you might expect.

If you are more the amusement park type, then Kansas City has you covered in a big way. Very big. Worlds of Fun is 175 acres in size, and is big enough for every park enthusiast. The park is famous for the legendary roller coaster named Mamba. This is the fastest roller coaster I have ever been on. You can also head over to Oceans of Fun if you are wanting more of the wet variety of theme park. This park has a huge wave pool that will make you think you are surfing the waves in Hawaii. They also have a huge number of water slides that are tops in the industry.

Most everyone that thinks of Kansas City, Missouri thinks of Performance Art. The city has a ton of outstanding theaters to visit and enjoy. These include The Gem Theater Cultural and Performing Arts Center, The Missori Repertory Theatre, and The Folly Theatre to name a few. These only scratch the surface of wonderful theatres to be found in the great city of Kansas City.

No trip to Kansas City would be complete without seeing the NFL Chiefs play in Arrowhead Stadium. You can also head over to the Sprint Center to see the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. If you like racing, then you can catch a race at Kansas City Speedway as well.

When it comes to eating, Kansas City has literally everything on the planet and usually several choices of each. The city is ranked near the top of the list for sheer volume of restaraunts in the United States. While you sample the wonderful cuisine, be sure you sample the Kansas City barbecue that has been legendary for years. This is found in the legendary Kansas City Barbecue restaraunt.
