Las Vegas truly is the one place on Earth where you can find the best and worst of everything. Family fun and the most decadent of lifestyles can be found within a stone’s throw of one another, and it can make for some uncomfortable moments if you are not careful. Still, Vegas offers way too much for the family to ignore it as a potential destination for your vacation. Can you truly have a gamble-free, family fun vacation in Las Vegas? You certainly can and here is how to do it:

The first step in having a family friendly vacation in Las Vegas is to get a place to stay well off the strip. Generally, if you are on the strip you will not be able to avoid some of the darker sides of the city. It is one thing to go there for some of the attractions and quite another to stay right there on the strip. Secure your lodging in one of the smaller towns around the edges of the city and commute to the destinations you wish to visit.
Plan your shows you want to attend. Not every Las Vegas show is okay for all the family members so be sure to research the ones that are family friendly. There are plenty of these types of options even on the strip if you look around. The Internet is a wonderful resource to learn about all the different Broadway shows and which ones are risque. Simply do your research and plan ahead on which shows you wish to take the family to.
Take advantage of the natural landscape. There are hundreds of trails, hikes and locations for you and the family to explore safely. These are literally breathtaking in the area, and well worth the time, exercise, and energy it will take to get out in the sun. There are so many natural wonders in the area that you simply must take them in to believe them. While you are at it, consider travelling to the Grand Canyon or if you wish for something closer, visit the Springs Preserve. This place is loaded with family friendly activities that change all the time.
Another idea is to go rock climbing. There are more rock climbing places in Las Vegas, Nevada than probably anywhere else in the United States and they are all surrounded by natural beauty.
Go shopping as a family. Las Vegas is second to no place when it comes to shopping and finding great bargains. While many of the better shops are located on the strip, you can certainly find plenty of options outside the strip as well. Some of the little shops and places along the road outside of Vegas are treasures to be sure. Look around and ask around when you get there. Most hotel employees can direct you to the best places to go shopping.
Las Vegas is really like any other place in America once you get past the lights and glitz. Though there are things that a family must consider, they are still a wonderful place to go for your family vacation. It only takes a little creative planning, and knowing where to go.
