And of course, Mackinac Island is also popularly known as the home of the annual Sailboat race which traverses from Chicago and concludes in Mackinac respectively. The annual event is hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club. This particular event is known as the world’s longest race on fresh-water venue and hundreds of boats are expected to enter into this specific race competition every year. All in all, the race is expected to run a total of 333 miles or 536 kilometers. The boats who entered into this competition and were able to finish up the race will then be called as “Island Goats.” Another event popularly hosted in the island is the Port Huron to Mackinac Boat Race. This particular event is being sponsored by the Bayview Yacht Club from Detroit in Michigan.
