Nicknamed the Mile High City, the Denver area has almost a mile high list of first class attraction to see and do that will entertain and captivate almost every traveler that would visit it. The city of Denver and the surrounding area is well known for its many opportunities for outdoor recreational pursuits, but there is more to Denver than that. Whether a visitor to Denver is seeking shopping, cultural attractions, professional sports contests, or almost any other attraction, the city has something for almost everyone.

Here are five things you must do when traveling to Denver.
1. 16th Street Mall - One of the more unique and interesting shopping experiences any where can be had at Denver’s 16th Street Mall. The Mall is in the heart of the city of Denver and offers a wide variety of places to shop, to eat, and to just kick back and relax. The outdoor mall is a little over one mile in length and is sealed off from traffic. Only pedestrians and transit buses are allowed on the streets of the 16th Street Mall. This is a great way to get outdoors, get some exercise, and fulfill the need to go shopping all at the same time.
2. Denver Zoo - One of the more popular destinations in the city of Denver, especially for those with children, is the Denver Zoo. The zoo features more than 4,000 animals and is laid out in an easy to navigate system. The wide variety of species available for viewing at the Denver Zoo is one of the best features of this attraction. View animals that are native to areas from around the world and also experience some of the best featured attractions that any zoo has put together.
3. Colorado History Museum - One of the best ways to get a good base of knowledge on the history of Denver and the entire state of Colorado is by going to the Colorado History Museum. The history of the state of Colorado is truly fascinating, whether looking at the early settlers, the gold seekers, or the later development that came in the 1900’s. As far as historical museums go, more lesser known information will be learned at the Colorado History Museum than at most museums travelers may visit.
4. Museo De Las Americas - Anyone interested in viewing and experiencing the history and culture of Latinos will be captivated by a visit to the Museo de las Americas. This museum is the only one in the Rocky Mountain area that aims its exhibits at the art, craftsmanship, history and culture of Latin America. Its exhibits cover both modern times and ancient times equally, plus everything in between as well. A truly unique learning experience can be had with a visit to the Museo de las Americas.
5. Mount Evans Scenic Byway - A one of a kind opportunity awaits those travelers to Denver who choose to make use of the Mount Evans Scenic Byway. In a drive lasting little more than 25 miles, visitors will climb more than 7,000 feet and eventually reach an altitude of over 14,000 feet above sea level. Visitors who make this trip will be able to say that they have driven on the highest paved road in North America. Many wonderful views and sites can be seen while on this unique driving excursion.
No matter what a person’s main interest, an equivalent attraction should be able to be found in Denver. The city’s wealth of history also provides a great opportunity for the viewing of museums and historical sites. Denver has a wide variety of entertainment venues that change yearround due in part to the weather. The city has established itself as one of the major vacation destinations in the United States for good reason, and it shows no sign of relinquishing that status.
