Cheers To The City Of Boston

Boston has always been tied to its rich historical background. The city still showcases the contributions of its original Puritan colonists from the New England region and the historic markers brought on by the American Revolution. However, Boston has slowly evolved into a dynamic and metropolitan place, filled to the brim with culture, sports related pursuits and the taste for the great life – great night life, that is. If you are indeed visiting Boston, it hardly seems worth your while to spend time here without sampling the offerings of the nocturnal scene.

We recommend you go bar hopping into some select scenes. Cover charges are relatively cheap, but some of the most popular discos and clubs do tend to get crowded on the weekends. The Roxy should be a great place to hang out for some techno beats, but getting in can be quite a problem. In Boston though, its not really dancing that makes the night especially great; it’s actually the food. The local brew is wonderful of course, but it is the food that accompanies the brew that is certain to get you salivating.

For those seeking a more sophisticated eating arena, especially those in favor of cultural pursuits such as poetry reading, a bit of jazz and some bluegrass conciertos, we suggest you head on out to the Cantab Lounge at Cambridge. Even if you don’t particularly feel the vibe of the present crowd, the burger and fries at the lounge are still to die for. The Top of the Hub also offers great fine dining fare and is probably the most romantic place in Boston to take your date. Don’t worry, the food may be heavenly, but the price is still quite down to earth.

If you have the boys out on the town and you just expended your energy cheering the Boston Red Sox (or any of the opposing team, you spoil sport,) you may want to head on to Woody’s Bar and Tap for some of the best thin-crust pizzas on the planet. You can order some of their more exotic pizza toppings, but we highly recommend the good ol’ veggie pizza and the meat filled ones. Those are perfect accompaniments to chilled beers and great friends. The Wonder Bar at Harvard Avenue is also a great place to plunk yourself down after a game.

Okay, so maybe you are visiting Boston for a more cultural and historic experience. We certainly would not blame you if you become so enamored by the charms of the city, that you wish you could just stay in Boston for a longer period of time. I mean, what’s not to love, especially with that pronounced accent you often hear among the locals and all that glorious food? However, if you are planning on going on a cultural or historical pilgrimage, we highly recommend you subscribe to one or two of the usual tours being offered in the city. Sure, you can wing your adventures on your own, but these tours are probably the most comfortable yet extensive tours possible. Additionally, most of the tours end with you and your companions heading on out to Copley Place, Newbury Street, and the Prudential Center for some of the best souvenir shopping experience possible.

Some of the standard city wide tours include: Boston By Foot (walking tour); the Boston Duck Tours (showcasing World War II artifacts); Harbor Walk (focusing on the shorelines of the city); and our favorite, tours of the local breweries where it is both educational and gut filling. Yes, they do let you sample the brews they have.
