The Best Dance Styles For Aerobic Exercise

Dancing is one of the best ways to get exercise all while having a good time. Not many forms of exercise allow you to have so much fun, and dancing is easy to do. Most anybody can dance to stay in shape with few ill effects, but one should still check with their doctor before attempting any of the dances in this article.

Hip Hop - Few dance styles are as energetic and aerobically challenging as hip hop. Hip hop will have you using every single muscle in your body, and often it is at a very fast rate of speed. While there are some slow hip hop dances around, the general dance style is one of quick, sharp movements all put to strong and heavy beated music. Hip hop will get you in shape fast!

Break Dancing - Again, this is a very unique aerobic type dance style that focuses largely on the movements of speed. Their is a large amount of break dancing moves that are done on the floor, but you need not do them if you are unable. You can still enjoy learning to break dance on some level that will be healthy without going to the floor for the spins and so on.

The Tango - While the tango is a strong, controlled dance, it is still an aerobic workout when it is done correctly. The dance takes excellent strength and timing, and one must exhibit great balance to execute the tango.

Tap Dancing - Tapping is perhaps the most difficult dance style of all as you are constantly moving and using your feet and legs. The dance is absolutely exhausting to many, and is a wonderful way to stay in shape. If you are tapping a few times a week, then chances are you are getting your quota of exercise and then some.

Shagging - This is yet another form of dance that can truly elevate the heartbeat and get you in shape quickly. The best part of shagging is that you can do it in so many different styles and speeds. Regardless of your fitness level, you can enjoy shagging with no problems.

The Jitterbug - If you really want to wear yourself out, then just try to do the jitterbug for an entire song without stopping. This dance is one hundred percent exhausting from start to finish, but it is loads of dance floor fun as well. Give the jitterbug a shot the next time you are finding a new dance to try.

The Waltz - There are both slow and fast waltzes, and the fast waltz is actually quite challenging for someone that is out of shape. The constant rise and fall of the dance puts extreme pressure on your quads, and this builds great muscle and strength. Also, the quick pace of the dance allows you to also elevate your heart rate for aerobic benefits.
