We all have heard the story before. A home gets burglarized, and the owners install security cameras to catch future burglars red handed. Few of these attempts at home made police work ever actually work, but occasionally we hear about a story where it does. This news story, however, has a nice twist to it. Jeanne Thomas was a victim of burglary, and decided to try to do something about it in the future. After arguing with her husband over the cost of a 250.00 device that would monitor the home and be visible via the Internet, he finally gave in and they installed the little device. Little did they know how important that security device would become.

On Wednesday morning, Thomas decided to check the live feed from her workplace, and got quite a shock. There on the camera in clear detail was a man inside of her house. Quickly, she dialed 911. After explaining how she was watching her house being robbed from her work that was twenty miles away, she began giving the 911 operator a play by play of her home being robbed before her very eyes.
Two men were in the house, and gathering items as they casually walked through the home. Jeanne Thomas simply relayed the information from the phone to the police who showed up and caught the robbers red handed. Ironically, the robbers walked right up to the hidden camera and never had a clue that it was recording their every move.
After several minutes of watching the video robbery in progress, Jeanne Thomas got to enjoy watching the police enter the residence on video. They found approximately 3000 bucks worth of stuff loaded onto the victim’s bed for eventual booty. As it turns out, the robbers were aided also by two other men that are not seen on camera.
While it may not be common to actually catch a thief in the act like this, it is common to catch them on video and discover it later. This story is unique in that Thomas was able to catch them live on camera and direct the police directly to the criminals. That had to be one incredibly satisfying situation for Thomas. In particular, how silly would the husband have felt about questioning the $250.00 purchase?
Men should listen to their wives more often it would appear, especially when it comes to home video technology.
