She’s been missing since October 28th and now the case is being treated as a possible homicide. Stacy Peterson is only 23 years old and her husband, Drew Peterson, is 53. Stacy is Drew’s fourth wife and now police are going to exhume the body of Drew’s third wife, Kathleen Savio died by accidentally drowning in her bathtub. Now officials aren’t so sure that it was an accident.

Both Kathleen and Stacy had indicated to friends that their marriages were abusive, however no charges were ever filed against Drew charging him with domestic violence. Now, the police have said that they are not just treating Stacy Peterson’s disappearance as a missing person’s case, but as a possible homicide and that Drew Peterson is in fact a suspect.

At the time of Kathleen Savio’s death, she and Drew were three weeks before finalizing their divorce. Though her death was ruled an accident, there were always some elements to the case that didn’t fit. Now they are going to exhume Kathleen’s body and hopefully they will find the missing elements to complete the puzzle. First, Kathleen had a one-inch long gash on the back of her head. There is also indication that what was seen in the bathroom at the time of her death is coexistent with a staging or cover-up of a murder, rather than a true accident. Officials also point to the fact that the gash on her head was not sufficient enough to cause Kathleen to lose consciousness, which would have been what would have contributed to an accidental drowning.

On another note, Officer Peterson has been suspended from his duties as a police officer and is not receiving any pay. Meanwhile, reports are surfacing that Stacy had confided in friends and family members that not only was Drew Peterson abusive, but that he was stalking her while she was in the house. The reports state that she feared for her life and wanted a divorce. Likewise, there are reports surfacing that Kathleen Savio also feared for her life and even confided in friends that she believed Drew was going to kill her. Drew claims that Stacy Peterson ran off with another man. The couple have two children, ages two and four.

Volunteers continue to search for Stacy Peterson in nearby fields and the police are turning their search back to Drew Petersons’ home and vehicles. They searched the property today with cadaver dogs and are using all means necessary to find whatever they can. However, those involved in the search efforts have made the claims that Drew Peterson has not been involved, has shown no great concern for his missing wife, nor has he made any appeals through the television seeking his wife’s return.

After Kathleen Savio’s body is exhumed and the tests are concluded one can only imagine the implications that will occur if it is determined that she was the victim of homicide rather than an accidental drowning. Apparently, Kathleen made the comment that she had caught Drew in a relationship with a young minor. Stacy Peterson married Drew when she was just 18 years old, he must have been 49. One can only wonder how old Stacy Peterson was when she first began a relationship with Drew Peterson.
