Six Found Dead in Tennessee and Alabama

Six people have died this past weekend. Five in one state and one in another. Could it be possible that all of these victims were killed by the same person? Or that they are simply related?

Five people were found dead near Fayetteville, Tennessee and one person was found dead in Huntsville, Alabama, according to Yahoo News. The ages of those who were slain have not been released by either Tennessee or Alabama law enforcement officials.

The two towns where the people were found dead are located thirty miles apart from one another. It may seem strange for the deaths to be linked, but it appears that the two are related to one another.

Yahoo News reports that a spokesperson, Kristen Helm, from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that a suspect is in custody. The suspect is a thirty year old man named Jacob Shaffer. Apparently, he was sitting on the front porch at the home in Tennessee where the victims were found dead. Charges have not yet been filed. Phone numbers for Shaffer are not in service.

Helm also said that some of those who were killed in Tennessee were related to each other. It is believed that they were killed at their homes on either Friday night or early on Saturday.

The people who were killed in Tennessee were found dead in two homes, which were located across the street from one another. One of those homes was a former skating rink that was later converted into a duplex.

A neighbor of those who lived at the Tennessee homes said that she saw young children, which appeared to be between the ages of 4 and 5, running back and forth between the two houses. The neighbor also said that she didn’t know the family, who had only moved to the area in the beginning of the year. The area mainly consists of rental homes.

The slaying in Alabama occurred at a business, not a home. Another fact which is interesting about the two locations is that the Tennessee killings occurred in a very rural area. Yahoo News reports that there are only 7,000 people who live in Fayetteville, which is not too far from Nashville. Huntsville, Alabama has a population of more than 170,000 people, according to Yahoo News. So, how did the police learn that the killings in both of these towns are related?

According to the police Sergeant of Huntsville, Alabama, “based on the suspect [of the Tennessee killings]’s information, police found a body at Hall Cultured Marble Granite late Saturday morning. Authorities have not said how the slayings in the two communities are linked” (Yahoo News).

As for whether or not Shaffer is the one who actually murdered all of the victims, no word yet. He was apparently able to provide enough information to law enforcement officials to contact the police in Huntsville, Alabama. Does this mean that he is the one who killed all of the victims or does he know who did? We will only be able to find out when more information about these deaths becomes available to the public. As of right now, it cannot be confirmed.
