Convicted NY Cop Keeps Pension In Spite Of Pursuing Minor

Imagine if you will, a police officer… Now imagine that this pillar of your community, this man of honor, this person that is entrusted to uphold the law and protect us from perverts was attempting to chat online with your 15 year old daughter. Not just any kind of chat, now. I am talking serious sexual chatting. Now imagine that this cop then went to meet your 15 year old in person. Would this cop deserve to keep his pension upon being convicted of such a crime?

Apparently the city of New York in the Bronx thinks so. Officer Robert Auletta, who is 54 years old, was allowed to keep his pension in a deal during a department trial. He was docked some pay, and lost 30 days of vacation. But he was allowed to keep his pension. You know, that reward that police officers get for protecting our community?

I am sorry but this is sickening. A 54 year old police officer chasing and attempting to have a relationship with a 15 year old girl? Are you kidding?

Robert Auletta was actually chatting with a police detective during his sexual “trysts” with what he thought to be a 15 year old girl. When he went to meet her in person, he was busted in a similar fashion as those on “To Catch A Predator.”

To me, this is the ultimate deception and crime that a police officer could commit. Of all the crimes that a police officer could commit to break a trust, attempting to have sex with a minor is certainly one of the worst. This was not as though he was tricked here. The girl apparently told the officer she was 15 during the chat. That should have sent the officer running in the other direction. Not only did this man continue to pursue her, but he actually went to meet with her. What would this meeting possibly be for if not for sex?

Whatever the excuses, the man is lucky to not be in prison. Forget the pension, as that seems like a no brainer. How in the world can a person get off so easily with such a horrific crime. Crimes against our children are at the very top of the criminal world. They are the crimes that even the criminals frown upon. Chasing after a minor like this is something that may even be a repeat offense. In the case of Auletta, nobody knows for sure. But in general, if a man is caught doing this sort of thing it is not usually the first time. It makes one wonder if there is a history?

Leave it to New York to allow this man his pension and slap his little wrist. While New York is one of the best cities in all the world, they are not exactly known for law and order. This is one case that rings of corruption.
