Carrie Underwood Wins Big At 2009 ACMA

Carrie Underwood is now officially country music’s biggest star, at least for the current moment. The former American Idol Winner and popular country music superstar picked up the ACMA Entertainer of the Year Award over reigning champion Kenny Chesney. Chesney had won the award for four years running, and Underwood is also the first female act to win it since the Dixie Chicks won in 2000.

Underwood also won top female vocalist on her special night at the ACMAs. The win for Underwood is just icing on the cake for her since she first burst onto the scene on American Idol. Country music has seen very few females dominate the airwaves in the way that Underwood has done. She has sent a message to the men that she is a force that will not be stopped, and people are listening.

The ACMAs was certainly a regal gala, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The annual award show is country music’s grandest stage of all, with the possible exception of the Grand Ole Opry. Julianne Hough, formerly of Dancing With The Stars, was another big winner.

Other winners of ACMA awards included Sugarland, Taylor Swift, John Rich, and many more. The performances were large and spectacular, and none bigger or more heartfelt than John Rich. Rich dedicated his song to the taxpayers of the good ole USA and the power and heart in the song showed in every note.

Carrie Underwood is sure to go on to bigger and better heights as her career drives forward, but the one thing that makes her stand out is her impeccable reputation and ability to reach out to young fans. Of all the people in Hollywood, and the music world as well, Underwood is the closest thing to a role model that you will see. She has embraced her faith and kept it in her life and music throughout the majority of her career. Jesus Take The Wheel was her first huge hit, and it seemed rather fitting for such a wonderful young lady like Underwood.

The latest hit for Underwood is a duet with Hall of Famer Randy Travis. They have come out with a new rendition of his huge hit, “I Told You So” and the song is flat out haunting and beautiful. Only time will tell what huge hit Underwood will come up with next.
