Drew Peterson: Mystery Letter

Drew Peterson is a man that is surrounded by mystery. His third wife died under mysterious circumstances. His fourth wife’s disappearance is a mystery, and now he has just received a mysterious letter sent by a mystery writer. The letter claims that the anonymous author has witnessed seeing Stacy Peterson in a grocery store in Peoria Illinois. The letter also inquires as to whether or not Stacy Peterson was pregnant as the writer describes noticing a “little pudge” around Stacy’s abdomen.

Receiving letters and phone calls in any missing person’s case is nothing new or alarming. In fact, there is a large factor of society that enjoys pulling pranks in missing person cases and report that they’ve seen the individual in any number of locations. However, good law enforcement will never automatically reject a letter and it must be investigated to its validity. The first step is that law enforcement are checking to see if surveillance tapes exist and if so, they will scrutinize them for a glimpse of Stacy Peterson and a suppose male counterpart. Meanwhile, Drew Peterson celebrated Thanksgiving with his children and family members.

There have also been new developments in the case. First, it is apparent that Drew Peterson’s $6,000 pension check is in jeopardy. The Bolingbrook police department did not conceal the fact that they did not want to give Drew Peterson this pension and refused to accept his resignation. Apparently, they are looking for a way to ensure that he will not receive this grand sum. Since Drew Peterson has not been charged or convicted with the murder of Kathleen Savio (his third wife) or with the murder or disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, they are looking into allegations of crimes that he committed while he was an active duty police officer. If these can be substantiated, it will put an end to Drew Peterson’s pension check, as will a charge and felony conviction in either wife’s case.

In other recent news, Stacy Peterson has been linked to the brother of a man she dated back in 2001, Scott Rosetta. Stacy and Scott Rosetta had been exchanging flirtatious emails and it has been reported that the two had planned to meet at a Denny’s restaurant before she vanished. Drew Peterson interrupted the meeting, apparently showing up at the restaurant. There are reports stating that Drew Peterson and a man, whose identity remains a mystery, were seen placing a large blue barrel into the be of Peterson’s GMC Denali. It has been stated that the barrel was large, between 35 and 55 gallons. Currently, the Denali and other property as well as another vehicle have been confiscated by the police. There are also many who believe that Drew Peterson killed his wife and has place her body somewhere near Rosetto’s property to frame him for the crime. As the search for Stacy continues, it is expected that focus will be place on property near the Rosetto home as well as on laboratory testing on property aquire from the Peterson residence.

Donda West’s Plastic Surgeon: Jan Adams

Due to respecting the wishes of the West family, plastic surgeon, Jan Adams walked off of an interview with Larry King on November 20, 2007. The show began with a panel of editors for daily tabloid and celebrity magazines discussing Donda West, her charitable nature, and her funeral and all rallied around Kanye West and his family. The family is requesting that media attention be diverted from Donda’s case. It is obvious that the family is in a deep time of mourning as Kanye West broke down on his last concert in Paris. The spotlight has shifted focus to Dr. Jan Adams as reports and suspicions are beginning to indicate that Donda West died as a result of plastic surgery procedures that were performed when Donda had not met previous health requirements.

Though people are respecting the West’s request and apparently Dr. Jan Adams received a letter from the West’s family attorney before he was set to speak on Larry King, the issues regarding the safety of plastic surgery must be addressed. Donda West died one day after having a tummy tuck and breast reduction. Reports are surfacing of other doctors declining to work on Donda because they feared that her health was not at a safe level to handle the surgeries. Apparently, Dr. Adams disagreed and went ahead with the surgery. The issue however stems to how many people are getting plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures and are at increased risk of serious adverse side effects and complications due to poor health.

With all of the television shows that feature dramatic before and after plastic surgery, more people than ever before are going under the knife in an effort to change their lives by improving their physical appearance. However, the television shows only show the best surgeries and of course, if there were any complications or problems, these are often edited out of the final show.

Any surgery has risks and complications. These may be a direct result from anesthesia or sedation. Some possible complications include stroke, heart attack, nerve damage, paralysis (temporary paralysis may occur until anesthesia or other drugs have worn off completely), abnormal heart rhythm, blood clots, brain damage, malignant hyperthermia, and obstruction of the airway. Blood loss may be a complication that may be indicated by low or dropping blood pressure.

A very serious complication is aspiration. Aspiration is vomiting after surgery and occurs when the vomit is pushed into the lungs. This can lead to many serious complications and may cause pneumonia. These complications are common with anesthesia and there are additional complications that pertain to cosmetic procedures alone. These include Necrosis or skin infections. This is often seen in smokers and is literally when the skin begins to die from infection or hematoma. Sometimes there may be errors in the surgery and these can result in asymmetry, dimples, and irregularities. This may be a result from poor healing or it can be the fault of the surgeon. It is critical that those who are contemplating plastic surgery are in good health. This means that for women they cannot take oral contraceptives, or take hormone replacement therapy, and in general patients must not be overweight, smokers, have a previous history of cancer, issues with blood clotting, or have experience recent injuries.

UN Wants an Expanded Internet

A UN Internet summit with delegates from 175 different countries recently concluded in Geneva Switzerland. The summit concluded that the Internet should be expanded to include the millions of people around the world who currently have limited or nonexistent access to the online world.

The BBC News web site is reporting that the delegates emphasized the importance of alerting governments to the opportunity of expanding Internet technology into all continents, and shrinking the so-called “technology gap” between wealthy and poor countries. However, the final report issued by the summit did not include an allocation of funds to bankroll this expansion, as some delegates had demanded.

Swiss President Pascal Couchepin hosted the event and said in a statement, “the summit has placed a new subject on the international agenda,” referring to the importance of decreasing the technology gap and expanding Internet use into poor nations around the world.

This was the first world summit to take place focusing upon the “information society.” Other than expanded Internet access, the delegates also examined the effects of cell phones and mobile Internet technology. The three-day summit’s final declaration set a goal of the Internet reaching 50% of the world’s population by 2015. However, no specific measures were laid out, or funding provided to achieve this goal.

Basically, the summit was little more than a “photo op” with the potential to expand awareness, but without the bureaucratic teeth or funding to set any realistic plan of action to work. Some delegates were left unimpressed by the outcome, failing to see agreement among the major powers on basic issues such as funding for expanding the Internet to developing nations, and Internet governance that would oversee fairness and ensure a level playing field online.

But other delegates at least conceded that the summit achieved its goal of producing a general statement of principle concerning the online world. As an awareness raising event, the UN summit could certainly be seen as a success, even if no concrete measures were produced to bring about the expansion of the Internet.

Western countries often forget that most of the world is not online. It can be easy to overlook this fact when you consider the rapid growth over the past 10 years of Internet access within the wealthy industrial nations. At times it seems that everyone and his dog has Internet access — and probably even a blog.

But the reality is that millions of people around the world have no access to the Internet, or at best, very limited access, creating an ever widening technology gap between the haves and have-nots.

If nothing else, the UN information society summit should at least draw attention to the critical matter of providing access to the online world for all citizens of all nations.

The Search for Stacy Peterson

Now that it has been proved that Drew Peterson’s third wife was murdered, the search for Stacy Peterson continues. She was reported missing on October 29th, 2007 in Bolingbrook, Illinois after failing to show up at the home of a family member. Drew is not the one who reported her missing. By November 2, 2007 the search has returned little information and cadaver dogs were brought to the Peterson residence. Police divers also searched a local pond in an attempt to locate Stacy Peterson’s body. On November 6, 2007 police searched the Peterson home for a second time. It is important to realize that during this time, the local community continued searching for Stacy.

Local volunteers have gathered together and local Chicago stations are airing shows to help in the efforts. One station, CLTV even airs a program entitled, “The Search for Stacy” Wednesday nights. America’s Most Wanted has profiled Stacy with the latest episode airing her information on November 10, 2007. There is a website devoted to her search, it is called, Find Stacy Peterson the site features a forum, local news stations, photos, search information, videos, and even a My Space Find Stacy Peterson page. With all of the support from the community and Stacy Peterson’s family, you would expect that the number one person leading the search would be her husband. However, he has yet to search for his wife on his own, or join in with the countless local and community volunteers who are searching through the community in an effort to find any clues regarding Stacy Peterson’s whereabouts.

The case took a serious turn on November 9th, 2007 when a judge issued an order to have Kathleen Savio’s body exhumed. Kathleen was Drew Peterson’s third wife and he was in fact married to Kathleen when he started dating Stacy who was only 17 years old. Drew Peterson was 30 years her senior, divorced Kathleen and married Stacy. It seems apparent that Drew Peterson knew he was in trouble when they began plans to exhume Kathleen’s body. I mean, just put the pieces together. Three days after they sign the orders, he resigned from the Bolingbrook Police Department. Obviously, Drew Peterson was making sure that he would collect his $72,000 yearly pension that is currently in safe status. I guess that’s one good thing, after Drew Peterson is convicted of murder, the children can use that money! Now, let’s continue putting the pieces together.

On November 12th, 2007 Kathleen Savio’s body is officially exhumed and the autopsy begins. Surprisingly, the very next day Drew Peterson breaks his silence, appears on NBC’s Today Show and is interviewed by Matt Lauer. Without a bat or blink of any eye, Drew Peterson uses the interview as an opportunity to ask for an attorney to represent him. He never showed any signs of sorrow, sadness, or grief the entire time he was interviewed and when asked why he hasn’t actively participated in the many searches for his wife of four years, he answered, “Well, there’s two things. One thing, it’s like I’m such a media sensation right now, if I go out and search, I think the search would be hampered by, number one, all the media attention I’d be getting. And, two, why would I look for somebody who I don’t believe is missing? She’s just gone. She’s where she wants to be.

Kathleen Savio Was Murdered

Drew Peterson is talking this week, but is he saying the right words? Drew Peterson is a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. First, I have to say that it is a bit ironic that first Laci Peterson was murdered by her husband and now Stacy Peterson is missing. It seems a strong case of déjà vu’ and it makes me wonder if Scott and Drew are somehow related or if this is pure coincidence. One thing is true however; their emotionally challenged and deprived husbands will forever link Laci and Stacy Peterson as two women who were victims of the brutal and callous abuse.

The issue here is truly one regarding domestic violence and what happens when husbands kill, get away with it, and kill again. I think it would even be justifiable to coin a new term and call it “serial domestic abuse murderers.” When a husband has a history of wives disappearing and dying and these women have both made the comments, “If I disappear know that my husband murdered me,” something is clearly wrong.

Kathleen Savio was Drew Peterson’s third wife and she mysteriously died after a fall in her bathtub. Her body was exhumed and there was a private autopsy performed by renowned former medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden. Dr. Baden performed his autopsy and has concluded that Kathleen Savio was in fact murdered. In an interview with Fox News, Dr. Michael Baden is quoted as saying, “”It’s my opinion, to a reasonable degree of medical certainty, it’s a homicide, and that’s what I would put down on the death certificate,”

Kathleen Savio had told friends and family that she feared for her life. The same is true with Stacy. One thing that I have to point out is that Drew Peterson seems to have a strong affection for girls at the cusp of maturity. He married Stacy when she was eighteen, which lends great possibility to the fact that he was dating her when she was underage. Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson had made statements that Drew Peterson was physically abusive and now Drew Peterson’s second wife is speaking up. She has told authorities that Drew Peterson was abusive to her and had even told her that he could kill her and make it look like an accident.

Like Scott Peterson, Drew Peterson has shown a complete lack of involvement in the search for his missing wife. When Laci Peterson turned up missing, Scott was not involved in the search; he lacked emotion when being interviewed by Diane Sawyer. Likewise, Drew Peterson did everything but confess to the whereabouts of Stacy Peterson’s body in his interview with Matt Lauer. When it comes to reading body language, Drew Peterson utterly fails.

Drew Peterson is a very dangerous man. He has a strong affection for minors, dating Stacy when she was 17 while married to his wife Kathleen Savio. He has a habit of marrying women who come from abusive homes and suffer from depression. If you listen carefully to his interview with Matt Lauer, you will hear him talk about how beautiful both Kathleen and Stacy were in the “beginning.” I would like to ask Drew the beginning of what? The beginning of the relationship when you were completely infatuated with them and thought they was the perfect addition to your egomania? I assume that when Drew Peterson realized that the women he married were human beings with their own minds, wills, and emotions they suddenly stopped looking so beautiful. I have only one question, and that is whether or not Drew Peterson will be convicted of murder based on circumstantial evidence and if they never find Stacy’s body.

Teen and Teacher Sex Case Update

Last week lawyers for Kelsey Peterson indicated that the boy she is accused of kidnapping and having a sexual affair with might be older than previously thought. The lawyer suggested that because the student shaves and has a mustache that he might be as old as sixteen. Since the boy is back in Mexico, James Martin Davis, Peterson’s attorney made a special request for his birth certificate. The age is vitally important to the case because if the boy were as old as sixteen or seventeen, some of the charges against Kelsey Peterson would be dropped, specifically statutory rape. The birth certificate is in. Kelsey Peterson is looking at serious charges because it has been proved that the boy is in fact, thirteen years old.

This revelation means that Kelsey Peterson is in huge trouble and that it might be best for James Martin Davis to begin a new strategy of defense and damage control. According to the Associated Press, the teen involved in the case was born in January of 1994 in Penjamo, Mexico. There is no question regarding the authenticity of the birth certificate. In fact, the birth certificate was handed over by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. As of date, Kelsey Peterson had not been charged with statutory rape, but in lieu of the document’s surfacing, it seems that it is just a matter of time before those charges are filed. Although government officials are sure of the validity of the birth certificate, James Martin Davis continues to question its authenticity.

Kelsey Peterson is just another one of many teachers who has been caught engaging in sexual activity with her students. However, Kelsey crossed international borders with her student when she took the boy to Mexico. This adds new dimension to the case and has resulted in additional charges. Crossing the US border to engage in sexual activity with a minor carries a sentence between ten years to life in prison as well as a fine of $250,000. These are federal charges. She also faces charges in her home state of Nebraska for kidnapping, child abuse, and what is known as contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Now that the information is being released that the boy is in fact a minor, it will be interesting to see what type of plan her attorney devises next. Personally, I didn’t feel that his tactic was going to have much impact, and I seriously doubt that the boy’s age was ever truly in question. I suspect that the lawyer was simply trying to divert attention from his client, but I believe his ploy backfired. All that has been accomplished was for the public to have a reaffirmed commitment and decision that Kelsey Peterson is a child molester. The next move in the case will be to see if the victim come back to the United States, currently he is in Mexico and hasn’t been allowed to return to Nebraska since he is an illegal immigrant. However, I expect that Kelsey Peterson will be formally charged with child sexual abuse or statutory rape in the days to come.

Alligator Kills Robbery Suspect

I’m from Florida. I’ve lived here for the past fifteen years, and the first lesson I learned was no matter how hot it gets, stay out of the water. It may even be fair to say that alligators are the dominant species in Florida. You’ll find them in your swimming pool, sunning themselves on golf courses, walking down Main Street, and sometimes you’ll even find them under your home. There have even been a few cases of alligators knocking themselves against people’s doors trying to come in. Can you imaging the fear and panic when someone looks through the peephole of their front door, only to find an eight-foot alligator waiting to come in?

Yes, it’s true. Alligators show up in the strangest places. But no matter how unusual or surprising the location, one thing is certain. Stay out of the water, it belongs to the gators. You see, alligators have an inside track to Florida that would put Map Quest to shame. They travel through sewers and drainage pipes and their special hangouts are ditches and retention ponds. When you see water in a community area, on the side of the road, or when you’re taking your Sunday drive and it’s 90’ outside there’s one rule, “Stay out of the water.”

The alligators make life a bit difficult in Florida. You can’t enjoy fishing without looking over your shoulder, you can’t just take a quick dip in the nearest lake or pond, and you can’t enjoy a nice stroll along the water’s edge at dusk or dawn without being extremely aware that an alligator may show up at any minute. Which is why it makes me wonder if the robbery suspect who jumped in a retention pond while running from the police was a native. My guess is he isn’t, but then again, you’ll find that Florida has its share of death defying locals. These locals aren’t afraid of anything. They’ll tell you stories how when they were just knee high to their momma’s apron strings, they “wrestled with them there gators in their back yard.” But even the locals would know better than to jump in the retention ponds. I think if given the choice between a stint in jail for robbing cars or meeting your fate in the terrifying jaws of a gator, many people would walk somberly up to the police with both hands extended.

Unfortunately, a robbery suspect decided to choose the other path. While being chased by police for possibly breaking into cars, the suspect jumped into a retention pond. His friend however was caught by the police and arrested (however, he is still alive). The officials aren’t releasing the victim’s name, only that onlookers were screaming for him to get out of the water. Apparently, those who live in the area were quite aware of Poncho, the nine-foot gator who was obviously fed. He has shown no signs of being afraid of humans and as is law here in Florida, if a gator kills, then the gator must be killed. Currently, Poncho is being quarantined until an examiner can make certain that they’ve caught the right alligator.

Triplets Are a Miracle: Hope Amongst Heartbreak

In a heartbreaking accident, Chris and Lori Coble lost their three beautiful and precious children, Kyle Christopher age 5, Emma Lynn age 4, and Katie Gene age 2. The accident took place on May 4, 2007 in Mission Viejo, California. Lori Cobles and the children’s grandmother, Cynthia Maestri were in their minivan when a semi tractor truck hit them.

The driver of the truck, Jorge Miguel Romero was driving under the speeding limit and charges may be filed. He had been previously ticketed for speeding, but it doesn’t appear that speed was a factor in the accident. Chris and Lori Coble were devoted parents. The loss touched many due to the fact that Lori Coble was a mom who loved to take pictures of her children and post them on her Internet page. At the time of the tragedy, sympathy began outpouring across the nation and her devastation was empathized with. The beautiful stay at home mom who loved to devote on her children had lost them all in the blink of an eye, the community and virtual world were deeply touched for the devastation their family had experienced.

There is no way that anyone can read through the page without being moved to tears. Lori Coble pours out her grief and shares what it is like struggling to go on each day with the absence of her children. It is heartbreaking, but you can tell that Lori Coble is a strong woman and that with the support of those around her, she is still standing. There are also memorial pages dedicated to Kyle, Emma, and Katie. As you can see, the children were precious little angels who were dearly loved by their parents.

The loss of a child is a tragedy that no one should ever have to experience and the loss of three children so suddenly and at once is enough to cause lifelong despair and desperation. However, in an amazing turn of events, Lori Coble is pregnant and she and Chris are expecting triplets. What may be even more astonishing than the fact that she is carrying triplets is that she is carrying one boy and two girls.

Lisa and Chris used in vitro fertilization and ten of Lori’s eggs were fertilized. Out of those ten, three became embryos that were viable, or had a great chance of survival. They requested that they have all three embryos implanted. When the couple learned that the sex of the three embryos were two girls and one boy they didn’t hesitate to have all three implanted. The babies are expected to be born in spring and surely the Coble’s have all of our well wishes and prayers for a healthy pregnancy and wonderful delivery. For a family that has endured so much heartbreak, it is truly a miracle that they have been given a fresh beginning. Though the new babies will never take the place of Kyle, Emma, and Katie there is sure to be plenty of joy, children’s laughter, and smiles in the Coble family once again.

Prince Battles His Fans Online

OK, we all know that Prince is a bit of a nutter. In fact, that may be an understatement; the purple-loving pop-sensation can be downright weird from time to time. But his latest tirade against fans online is downright strange — even for Prince.

CNN is reporting that lawyers acting on behalf of the 49-year-old star are seeking to have all pictures of Prince, along with album covers and song lyrics removed from the Internet. In particular, Prince’s lawyers are going after three Internet fan sites, by issuing cease and desist letters warning the site’s owners to provide “details of the means by which you propose to compensate our client…”

Has Prince finally and completely lost his freaking mind? It certainly seems like it. After all, he has now sicked his legal “watchdogs” on his own fans — the people that love and adore him so much that they spend a great deal of time energy and money maintaining web sites in his honor without any compensation whatsoever. Talk about ingratitude!

The music industry in general has had a tough time coming to terms with the Internet and the emergence of a worldwide connected culture. But some stars seem to have much more trouble with it than others: remember all that nonsense with Metallica versus Napster back in the 90s?

But these days, most big shots in the music industry have mostly adjusted to the realities of the online world, and try to take advantage of the power of the Internet to promote their music, rather than pushing against it.

For example, Radiohead recently released their latest album online as a series of MP3 files on their web site. And in a show of faith in their diehard fans, the band did not use any sort of digital media protection with the MP3s. While this may not have been the greatest financial move short-term, it went a long way toward endearing the UK indie group to its fans.

Seen in this light, what Prince is now attempting to do online seems like a huge slap in the face to his fan base. To begin with, there is no way that Prince or any other pop star can possibly remove all of their images, album covers or song lyrics online. Perhaps Prince hasn’t noticed it, but the Internet is a pretty big place.

But despite Prince’s latest move being absolutely futile, it’s also shortsighted and bound to have an adverse effect on his relationship with his fans. In fact, several Prince message boards and fan sites have now formed a coalition to fight back against the pop star. Prince may be about to learn the hard way that squabbling with your biggest fans is simply bad for business.

Twists in Teen Sex Case

There are some new twists and turns in the latest teacher and teen sex case. I’m sure you remember Kelsey Peterson, the teacher who ran away with her student and was caught in Mexico last week. Her student is an illegal immigrant and wasn’t allowed to return back to the States. Well, Kelsey Peterson is twenty-five and it was believed that her student was thirteen years old. Now, Kelsey Peterson’s attorney is saying that they aren’t really sure exactly how old the boy is. Since he is an illegal immigrant, they believe that his birth certificate was faked and her attorney is requesting proof of his age. According to the attorney, the boy must be older than thirteen because he shaves and has a mustache. If he is older (they are suspecting that he may be sixteen or older) Kelsey may not face statutory rape charges. Kelsey’s attorney is also suggesting that the boy was making plenty of advances towards the teacher and not the other way around.

Kelsey’s attorney, James Davis, also states that the boy went with Kelsey willingly, therefore the kidnapping charges should be dropped. The boy may be able to return to the United States, if he gets a U Visa. This type of Visa is used when illegal immigrants come back to the country to report crimes that have been committed against them.

All I can say is that Kelsey Peterson has a very resourceful defense attorney. Though, I am not sure how well his strategy is going to play out. If this is a wild goose chase and the inquisition over the birth certificate is simply a ploy to throw off the media’s perception of Kelsey, I doubt it will work. I don’t think people in general will care if the boy was twelve or fifteen when they first got together. I also don’t think that people will think that those three years should mean the difference between a kidnapping charge as well. Now, if it turns out that he is eighteen and was pretending he was thirteen because he especially loved the eighth grade that will be one thing. Somehow, I doubt that is the true scenario. I also don’t think the fact that the boy has a mustache or shaves should lessen the guilt of Kelsey Peterson is either. The only thing that is going to matter in this case is the boy’s age and if it is under the legal limit for statutory rape. It either is or it isn’t, and I don’t think there is any way that James Davis is going to be able to spin that in Kelsey’s favor.

One thing seems sure; this doesn’t seem to be a Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau type of relationship. Mary Kay Letoruneau spent seven years in prison for her sexual relationship with her student, Vili Fualaau. However, both Mary Kay and Vili continued to profess their love for each other and continually broke the law to be with each other. They had two daughters and as soon as Mary Kay was released from prison and Vili was of legal age, they sought the court for the right to be married. They married and are still together to this day. It seems that of all of the teacher student relationships that none of them seem to be following in Mary Kay and Vili’s footsteps. These don’t seem to be cases of forbidden love but of child molestation, and because of that fact there is very little spin a defense attorney can weave to change the public’s opinion.
