What is Soma?

Drug Uses

Soma relieves muscle tension through the inhibition of the transmission of painful sensations (from the nerves, and into the brain). It is usually administered in combination with other rehabilitation methods, such as physical therapy and bed rest, as a treatment for muscle damage, bodily injury, and musculoskeletal conditions which need pain management. Soma may also be used for conditions and purposes other than those mentioned.

How to Take Soma

Soma comes in tablet form, for oral administration. For adults, the standard dosage involves three 350 mg tablets daily, taken in eight-hour intervals. It may be taken with water if needed, and is best ingested with meals (although you may also take it on an empty stomach). The medication is not recommended for children under the age of twelve. Do not take Soma in amounts other than prescribed, or for treatment periods which are longer than recommended.

Drug Precautions

Do not take on Soma as part of your treatment if you bear a condition called porphyria; take it under medical supervision if you have liver or renal conditions, as well as seizure disorders. You dosage may be regulated accordingly, or you may have to take special tests before you are allowed to take the medication. Soma can cause dependence, and must be used only for the person and the condition it was prescribed for. Do not administer the drug to other people, particularly if they have a record of drug dependence. You may also need to gradually reduce your dosage before completing the treatment; it can cause withdrawal symptoms if you abruptly discontinue taking it. The intake of Soma can lead to adverse conditions which can hamper your normal reactions; be extra careful if you involve yourself in activities which may require your full focus and alertness.

Drug Interactions

Your treatment regimen may include medication which can interact with Soma; ensure that your doctor knows all about your current prescription and OTC medicines, and also your vitamin, mineral, or herbal supplements.

Side Effects

Seek for immediate medical assistance if you suffer an allergic reaction, or if you incur these serious adverse conditions: sudden vision loss; paralysis and numbness; a giddy or fainting sensation; extreme fatigue or a loss of body coordination; convulsive seizures; and extreme agitation or vexation. Other more common symptoms can be experienced which may also require attention: insomnia; nausea and vomiting and hiccups; migraine headaches; tremors; and blurry vision.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a scheduled dose of Soma, immediately take it upon remembering the missed dose. But if the next intake is presently due, leave out the missed dose and follow your usual dosing schedule.

Overdose

Seek immediate medical help if you feel that you have taken Soma in excessive doses. You may experience shallow breathing, hallucinations, stiff muscles, problems with vision, and a rapid heartbeat as symptoms of a potential overdose.

Storage

Keep Soma within maintained room temperatures of 15-30C. Store it in areas far from excessive heat and moisture sources.
