Drug Uses

Esgic Plus offers the combined benefits of pain relief, reduced fever, and relaxed muscle contractions, for an improved blood flow in the vessels. It is normally administered for the treatment of tension headaches and the symptoms associated with them.

How to Take Esgic Plus

The normal intake dosage may vary with each patient’s individual condition, but the maximum allowable amount for taking Esgic Plus is a thousand milligrams for each dose (one gram), or four thousand milligrams per day (four grams). If it causes you stomach upsets, take the tablet after meals, or with milk. Each tablet can contain as much as 750 mgs of acetaminophen; take note of the amount of such a substance in all of the drugs and products you take. Inform your doctor if the medication appears to lose its potency in providing relief from your pain.

Drug Precautions

Certain components of Esgic Plus can be addicting, and should only be taken as instructed. It must not be shared with other persons even if they experience similar symptoms, and especially if such persons have a record of substance abuse or dependence. You may not be able to take Esgic Plus if you drink alcoholic beverages in frequencies exceeding thrice a day, or you have incurred cirrhosis as a result (alcoholic liver disease). If you have a present kidney or liver ailment, or if you have a record of mental illness, you may be given a dosage adjustment, or may require special tests before taking on the medication.

Drug Interactions

These medications can interfere with or enhance the effectiveness of Esgic Plus: antibiotics, isoniazid, or zidovudine; blood thinners, including warfarin; medicines for treating gout, like sulfinpyrazone or probenecid; steroids, including prednisone and dexamethasone; drugs for seizures like phenytoin and Phenobarbital; MAO inhibitors, such as phenelzine, selegiline, isocarboxazid, and tranylcypromine; and antidepressants like clomipramine and desipramine.

Side Effects

The following are severe conditions which result from taking Esgic Plus: an allergic reaction; a rapid, palpitating, or irregular heart rate; sensations of light-headedness, or a difficulty in maintaining normal breathing; increased susceptibility to bruising and bleeding; symptoms of influenza such as fever with chills, and an aching body; a noticeable weakness; jaundice; and queasiness, accompanied by stomach pains, dark urine, a slight fever, clay-colored feces, and a lost appetite. If you experience such symptoms, call for medical help at once.

Missed Dose

Immediately make up for any dose you miss, as long as the next intake in your dosing schedule is not yet due. If your next dose is almost up, skip the missed intake and follow through with your usual schedule.

Overdose

A dose of acetaminophen which exceeds two thousand grams can cause severe liver damage, even liver failure. Seek immediate medical help if you suspect that you have taken Esgic Plus in excess, or if you experience the side effects in an unusual severity.

Storage

Keep the medication within room temperatures, and away from moisture. Heat and moisture can easily break it down.
