The Rock Dominates Disneys Race To Witch Mountain

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson headlines the latest Disney spectacular and the result is a fast paced, fun filled, family adventure for kids of all ages. The movie is not a carbon copy of the original by any means, and the changes really brought the series up to date for the time period. The two primary players in the movie other than the Rock is Seth and Sara, two adorable little aliens that suddenly appear in the back seat of The Rock’s cab. From that point on, the movie simply blisters along at a great pace, and does not disappoint in the slightest.

Seth and Sara are actually aliens, and the comic capers that The Rock goes through in finding that out is simply Disney magic. The kids are being pursued by a secret government agency, and The Rock is trying his best to protect the two children and help them along the way.

The Rock, far from just a wrestling celebrity actor anymore, is brilliant in how he plays off and with the children in this latest Witch Mountain installment. He is tough when he should be, and soft when it fits the movie. What is truly amazing is that he is entirely believable as a former con trying to make good driving a cab. His comic timing is impeccable and the kids seem to be right in synch with him throughout the movie.

The first Witch Mountain back in the 1970’s left me feeling spooked, and had a very different feeling than in this modern day episode. This movie left me happy, and laughing all the way home. The change comes primarily due to the Rock as an addition to the film, but it was also partly due to the kids this time around.

The little girl is played by Anna-Sophia Robb, and she is simply magic. The fact that she plays an alien seems almost secondary to her adorable smile that eventually comes out. The little boy is also great, though certainly not as cute. He is played by Alexander Ludwig. In fairness to Ludwig, he is playing the robotic alien type more so than Anna, so his lack of cute was planned and part of his job.

Race to Witch Mountain is another Disney classic that is worth every dime you might spend at the theater. Kids in particular will enjoy this movie from start to finish. It is the perfect movie to take the family to for a Matinee, and to feel as though your money was well spent. Race To Witch Mountain is a movie that I plan to buy and keep for my kids to watch over and over when it is released on DVD and I highly recommend it for any Family that wants to have a good time.
