The American Idol Finale is finally upon us as late blooming upstart Kris Allen attempts to beat the resident favorite Adam Lambert. Many people are giving Kris Allen no chance against the flamboyant Lambert, but the truth is he has better chances than they might think. Kris Allen is extremely popular as search trends and American Idol voting show, and he has one very important factor going for him. He completely owns the teen and kid television crowd.
Adam Lambert is no stranger to the young crowd as well, but he is more geared towards the rock crowd. While the kids might like him, they are less likely to be voting for him over the younger more teen friendly Kris Allen. Granted the older teens will be Lambert fans all the way, the younger teens will probably fall into Kris Allen’s corner. That is important given that a huge portion of the American Idol voters are in that age group.
Kris Allen was thought to be out of the running a couple of times this season only to be saved by the younger voters. His youthful good looks are poster made for the Teen Beat generation of American Idol voters that pull the largest voting weight on the show. His style of music is also likely to be more kid friendly in the eyes of many of the parents that watch the show. I can not see many parents welcoming Adam Lambert posters on their nine year old daughter’s wall, no matter how wrong that may be.
I happen to think that Lambert is fantastic and he seems to be one of the most genuine contestants to ever take the stage. The hair and makeup, and black nails, and piercings say nothing about the man behind the microphone in my estimation. Still, a lot of parents would not share my view.
Adam Lambert has certainly dominated the competition this season on American Idol and I think that he deserves the crown with no questions. We have seen from previous Idol years that this is not always a guarantee that they will win. Daughtery comes to mind as a perfect example. Either way, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert both will be huge mega stars when this season of American Idol is over.
Kris Allen has really come on strong and ended up taking out the one guy that many people thought could actually give Lambert a run for his money. Danny Gokey was edged out, and many have written off the American Idol finale as a mere formality. Not this American Idol viewer. I have seen too many surprises over the years.
While Adam Lambert certainly should be the American Idol, and likely will be, he is far from a lock. Kris Allen is incredibly popular, and that could easily spring the biggest upset in American Idol music history. You read it here first, and do not be surprised if Kris Allen actually pulls it off.
