Season Eight of American Idol is off and running and it appears that it may end up being a one man race. Adam Lambert is the 26 year old singer actor that has the pipes to blow the roof off of any auditorium. Though he is currently among the final nine contestants, many feel that his crowning as the Season 8 American Idol title is a mere formality. He has shown a propensity to perform that has not been seen on Idol at such an early stage in the show. From day one, Adam Lambert has commanded the stage like a pro.

Part of the reason for this is that Adam Lambert is not actually a rookie to the stage. He has performed on stage with musicals and has been performing since the tender age of ten. His experience is quite obvious when he takes the stage and television does not seem to affect him one iota. Not a glimmer of uncertainty seems to cross his face as he steps up to the microphone. He instead looks like a tiger attacking the American Idol Stage.
Is there anybody among the Season 8 American Idol finalists that can actually give Adam a run for his money going into the final stages? Here is a look at Adam’s competition along with my odds on their winning it all:
Allison Iraheta - This young, redheaded rocker is one to watch, but not a threat to take the Idol crown from Adam Lambert. They are light years apart in the area of performance, music, and popularity. Still, I expect that she will have great success after American Idol.
Anoop Desai - Anoop blew his chances early in the competition by acting like a goof rather than focusing on his vocals. His early performances came across as hyper and cheap, and now that he has gone back to those silky vocals it is too little too late. Anoop will have success after Idol, but he is limited in the competition for the American Idol crown.
Kris Allen - This guy is a sleeper pick, but I do not think he will be able to weather the later rounds that force him to get outside his comfort zone. Still, he is wildly popular, and will get his share of votes. He is among the three or four that could remotely challenge Adam Lambert for the crown.
Matt Giraud - Another sleeper, but he is also just too limited. Incredibly talented and capable of winning if he would stay true to himself, Matt seems to alternate between imitating Justin Timberlake, and delivering mind blowing performances as himself. When he is himself, he is awesome.
Lil Rounds - This girl can sing, and has the pipes to combat Lambert to a degree, but she seems clueless when it comes to song selection. She absolutely bombed on Motown week, a genre that should have been right in her wheelhouse. Hopefully, she will get a better advisor for song choice in time to put up a fight.
Megan Joy - Megan is a perfect example of the Brooke White syndrome. She has a very specific voice that you love or hate. Unfortunately, many people simply do not like that type of voice, and will not vote for her. She does have a great niche for radio after the show, however.
Scott MacIntyre - Scott is a person that will be a wonderful writer and piano player, but he is simply not the fantastic singer that Idol tries to make him out as. Though I highly respect his talent and the fact that he does so much in spite of his disability, I do think Idol has pushed him as being better than he really is.
Danny Gokey - Now Danny is the real threat to Lambert. Of all the remaining finalists, Danny is easily the best singer and performer. His confidence and song choices are flawless, and he has the sentimental factor going as well. Adam Lambert could get a run for his money from this guy.
