Definition of UDP

User Datagram Protocol. A connectionless transport-layer protocol in the TCP/IP protocol suite. UDP is a simplistic protocol that does not provide for congestion management, packet loss notification feedback, or error correction; UDP assumes these will be handled by a higher-layer protocol.
