Internet Dictionary - Definition of Jitter


	The distortion of a signal as it is propagated through the network, where the signal varies from its original reference timing. In packet-switched networks, jitter is a distortion of the interpacket arrival times compared to the interpacket times of the original signal transmission. Also known as delay variance.
