Definition of Transparent Bridging

A method of bridging used in Ethernet and IEEE 802.3 networks by which frames are forwarded along one hop at a time, based on forwarding information at each hop. Transparent bridging gets its name from the fact that the bridges themselves are transparent to the end-systems. Contrast with SRB (Source-Route Bridging).
