Internet Dictionary provides definitions of Internet terms, technology glossaries, web jargons and acronyms. The list of dictionary words is categorized alphabetically for ease of browsing. One can also search for a particular term using search box.
Virtual Private Network. A network that can exist discretely on a physical infrastructure consisting of multiple VPNs, similar to the "ships in the nights" pardigm. There are many ways to accomplish this, but the basic concept is that many individual, discrete networks may exist on the same infrastructure without knowledge of one another's existence.

Local Area Network. A local communications environment, typically constructed using privately operated wiring and communications facilities. The strict interpretation of this term is a broadcast media in which any connected host system can contact any other connected system without the need for explicit assistance of a routing protocol.
