Twitter Social Networking

The technological advancement brought by the Internet has produced new forms of mass media that changed the way people deliver news. One of this is the proliferation of social networking or micro-blogging service which allows people to connect in a way that have never been before.

One of the most popular social networking is Twitter. This blogging service allows its users to send messages to other members of the same blogging site by means of short message service (SMS) phone, Twitter web site, instant messaging, RSS, and other intermediary applications including Facebook and Twitterific.

twitterThis free social networking site allows users to post updates which are then displayed on their profile’s page. The users can opt if they would like to make their updates and profiles be seen by only their list of friends or the general public. Today, there are four access numbers which are currently used. The US, India, and Canada use short codes as its gateway numbers, meanwhile, United Kingdom uses international contact digit.

The blogging service provider is rapidly gaining popularity and wide success especially to young adults; this is due to the fact that this social networking is seen as an effective means of sharing people’s thought, ideas, and beliefs to others.

The Twitter blogging service began as a simple project used internally by the Obvious, LLC Company. With its viability, this has been introduced to the public in October 2006, just seven months after it has been developed.

In March 2007, due to its growing numbers of users and its wide acceptance to the public, Twitter has been awarded with Southwest Award in blog category. This event is a remarkable breakthrough for the company since it has only been into blogging service for one year.

With its unprecedented user growth, Twitter has experienced various problems. One of the looming problems of this is the fact that excessive connection brought by this technology will ironically lead to disconnection since people are treating Twitter as the real world, forgetting the fact that this is almost comparable to a virtual realm. Just like any social networking, with fanaticism, Twitter may even divide people than connect them since Internet will never be an alternative to intimate person-to-person conversation or communication.

But still, social networking has provided a social implication that has never been seen before. Due to its popularity, this means of communication provides free-flowing information which in turn can shape general views on certain issues—with good or bad ramifications.

Overall, Twitter provides 97 percent uptime. The company’s service only experience downtime in rare occasions wherein the demand for service is so high that the social networking can not accommodate all of these. Users can expect downtime during popular occasions, affairs, and other much-awaited events.
