If you’re running an online store as part of your existing store, you start to think of things on how to make them better all the time. Of course you try to update your gallery and product listings all the time and make sure potential customers are updated with what you have so that they will get interested. I think you already know, but your website is probably not very different from some thousands of other sites when it comes to offered products and services. In terms of design, you could also have countless other sites that almost look the same as your online store.

With so much competition in your field, you need to come up with new ideas and approaches to attract customers. You need to have something that can make your customers feel you connect to them most of the time.

One of the tools that you can add for you customers to enjoy is podcasting. Podcasting refers to broadcasting online by recording your voice which is somehow a “show” so that your customers and online visitors can listen to anything that you say. The word “podcast” became popular after Apple’s iPod became a hit in the market.

The advancement and support for podcasts increase in thousands everyday. It’s a great tool for any business to exploit because it’s freely available. As podcasting started to attract users to create their own, websites that offer free postcast hosting started to crop up. As a small business owner who is on a tight budget, you can use these sites to power your tool.

What do you need when you want to start podcasting? All you need to have is a computer, a computer microphone and software for recording your voice. Simple as that. If you’re reading this, you must have a computer of your own, so that’s settled. For your computer mics, a 10-$15 dollar microphones should be enough. Next is the software. There are literally hundreds out there that can provide you with free voice recording. However, most of the amateur and even professional podcasters use audacity for their software. Since it’s an open source software, you can literally have the best of this software for free. Lastly is a free host for your audios. Podcasting.com or Podomatic.com can provide you with the list or host your shows for free. You can even post some of their players for free.

Having a podcast is great for your business. You can do that every week when you can discuss any new update about your shop or read email of the persons that inquired about your product. If you are offering new services, you can introduce them to your customer so that they will understand what they are all about. This personalized show of your business will definitely create a personal bond with your present and potential customers, and will be a great addition to your marketing plans.
