Google Notebook vs. Jump Knowledge - Take Notes Online

Making notes on the sites that you may visit later is quite easy. You can just copy the URL to your notepad, make a little note and then click on it later. Bookmarking is also an option but there are no notes there. Those operations don’t even require internet connection and could be done in less than a minute.

But in a wired world that we are, companies big and small create things that are supposed to give us an easy life…even for just remembering some sites that we should revisit, including notes related to sites.

So here are the two sites that should be able to help you with your quest remember things clearly. The good thing about these sites is that they are online so you don’t need to drag your laptop, just open them and learn things about them.

Google Notebook – Google has again expanded their series of services, and tech geek as we are, we immediately jumped to try them out. This is specially recommended for Firefox users. All you need to do is install this nifty add-on to your browser. But before that, be sure to have a Google Toolbar to make it even easier. The Google Notebook button will not be in your toolbar but in the lower right side of your browser. Once you logged in to your toolbar, you’ll be able to access the online notepad just by clicking on it. Once you find the site that you like or need, just click on clip and the URL will be saved. You can then add remarks regarding the website and return to it later. Your Google homepage will also be altered once you install their online notebook. There will be a new button named My Notebook. You can even share your notebook to other Google users.

Jump Knowledge – It will even take you to the next step of creating notes for later use. Instead of saving the URL, why not save the whole page? Jump Knowledge has an online capability to let you edit the page and add notes in each link. It’s like reacting to what the website has to say. Jump Knowledge is available in both IE and Firefox as an add-on. Once installed, this program can be easily accessible with a button right in the most popular buttons just (in my case just after refresh in my Firefox). If you found the website that you like, just click on the button-shortcut and a new page will load that will enable you to add notes. After finishing adding notes in a website, you e-mail the website either to yourself, or post it in your blog. All you need to do is to sign up for this free service and you can edit the pages that you want.

Creating notes has never been better with these services. Because they are online, there’s no need to be stuck with one computer. As long as any computer has a connection, you use the service and update your account.
