As a parent, watching children’s programming has become a part of our daily routine. It is important that when we are not watching programming designed specifically towards children, that the shows are kid-friendly. There are five television shows that both children and parents alike can enjoy.

We want to shield our children form violence, profanity, and general graphic entertainment content to the best of our abilities. Yet, in the same regard we want to be able to share the experience of television with our children in moderation. It is for this purpose I am providing this list. These are the top five kid-friendly television shows today.
1. Jon and Kate Plus 8 - Children enjoy watching other children, and I must admit that Jon and Kate are rather amusing in their own regard. Watching this couple endure the feat of raising both twins and sextuplets all under the age of 10 is certainly entertaining. Better yet, it is kid-friendly without the cartoon aspect.
2. Pet Star - Watching animals do all sorts of ridiculous tricks for the hopes of winning the grand prize is a great family oriented show. Children love the animals and by its very nature, Pet Star is a great kid-friendly option.
3. SpongeBob Square pants - Although SpongeBob Squarepants is a cartoon, its humor can be pretty pervasive in nature. It does offer some great morals for children and in this regard is very kid-friendly.
4. Wonderpets - The Wonderpets are a really nice alternative to typical children’s programming. Mostly animated, the Wonderpets teach children about animals as well as inter-personal dynamics including teamwork.
5. Zaboomafoo - Live action animal show Zaboomafoo features the Kratt brothers as they have adventures with real wild animals. Tigers, lemurs, zebras, have all been animal guests. In addition to teaching children about the animals, Zaboomafoo also teaches children lessons about how to treat and approach animals.
These top five kid-friendly shows are a variety of programming specifically designed for children in combination with programming the whole family can enjoy. These shows are some of the best television options for children. They feature no profanity, no violence, and teach children important social and educational lessons.
By monitoring what our children are watching on television we can ensure that they are protected by things they should not learn until they are older. The innocence of children should be cherished and channeled in a positive nature. Television being a commonplace indoor activity should be used for the greater good. Kid-friendly television can be utilized as a tool in their development as well as a source of entertainment.
