Remedies for Killing Ants

Although ants are small creatures, they can really cause some problems for your home. Sometimes the over working nature of ants can work against people especially when they begin to pester them with their colony. Most ants can be too aggressive when seeking for food and what you have left at the table may be instantly surrounded by these ants in a matter of minutes. The worst scenario is possibly having ant hills right at your very own backyard. Before you knew it, you will have limited movement right in your very own home because you are afraid to touch base with these ants.

antsThe general type of remedy in removing ants can be temporary some people employ the use of chalk marks to limit the mobility of ants. However, this does not often get very far plus it is not that okay to see chalk marks flooding the home. Other people simply wet ant trails to prevent ants from continuing with their march. One of the simplest ways in which ants can be repelled is by wiping off the path where they are lining up. Ants are actually blind and they only make their way around using their antennae and their sense of smell. Every ant leaves off a trail which gets picked up by the following ant. This is the reason why ants keep in a straight line when approaching a food target.

Aside from these simple methods, insecticides have also proven themselves a great remedy in killing ants. Some of those who wanted to prohibit the use of pesticide spray stick with the tablets and the minute ones which can be left at strategic parts of the house. These type of pesticides also has a pleasing smell which can be picked up by the ants and therefore mistake it for food. Eventually they will bring these little pesticides inside their colony and once eaten, will drive mass killing among those inside the ant colony. The usual types of pesticide used for this are borax and boric acid. Not only are they proven to be effective but they are also considered safe among humans.

Those who wish to rid ants from pestering fruits and flowers employ a different strategy in killing ants. What garden professionals do is that they use grease rings on the trucks and stems of trees. Grease rings erase the routes which ants have been following on the principle applied in grease rings are similar to that of wiping tables and other ant infested areas. These rings will render ants vulnerable and therefore make it harder for them to find their way back into their colony should they fail to reach their intended food source. As such, ants would become extreme vulnerable to awaiting predators and even those deadly parasites.

However, for a bigger size of ant which needs to be killed another remedy is being used. This is personified through the use of broadcast baiting. In this method, the substance used to kill the ants will be spread right across the targeted area to be able to control the ant population. This is also often used in lawns and gardens. Through the procedure, the nest of these ants will be traced and then boiling water will be poured right into the colony. As this happens, the queen of the ant colony is hoped to get killed and as it happens, the entire colony will die as well.
