How To Properly Clean Your Bathroom

Of all the basic home cleaning skills that one should be able to do, cleaning the bathroom should be chief among them. The bathroom can quickly overcome the housekeeper if it is not done regularly and correctly. A dirty bathroom is one of the most obvious signs of a house that is not in the proper order. Fortunately, cleaning the bathroom is also one of the easier tasks for the homemaker to accomplish. It just takes a little bit of know how. Here is how to clean your bathroom step by step:

1. The first thing you should do is to wipe down all the walls in the bathroom. If you do this regularly, it is a quick and easy task. Simply take a damp cloth and wipe. Make sure to use a broom or damp mop to get the corners where cobwebs and dirt can accumulate.

2. The next step is to clean the shower and bathtub. This can be done by using a foaming cleanser. Spray the bathtub down well with scrubbing bubbles, and let the cleaner sit while you move on to the next step.

3. Clean the toilet next by spraying the inside of the bowl first with a good cleaner. Then start at the top of the toilet and clean it with Lysol all the way down. Make sure you get under the toilet seat and around the bottom of the toilet. The back of the toilet is a common place that is missed. Once you have done the exterior, then go back and use a brush on the cleaner within the bowl.

4. Next, you will wipe down the cabinets and sink, as well as any other pieces in the bathroom. This can be done effectively with Lysol or similar cleaning agents.

5. By this time, the cleanser in the bathtub and shower will be finished doing it’s work. Go back and run the shower to rinse away the cleaner. If you have stains in the bathtub or shower, then you might try scrubbing before washing down the cleanser.

6. If you have not cleaned the shower curtain in a while (longer than two weeks) then this is the time. Take the shower curtain down and clean it as suggested for your type of shower curtain.

7. Remove the bathroom rugs and shake them outside. Clean them thoroughly and vacuum them.

8. Sweep out the bathroom taking special care to get the hidden crevices in the bathroom. Once you have swept out the bathroom, then you will begin to mop. Use your favorite floor cleaner based upon the type of floor you have. This should be the last step in cleaning your bathroom because the floor will get dirty as you clean the sink, toilet and bathtub. This is why you should do the floor last.

9. Finally, go back and clean the chrome in the sink and bathtub, as well as any mirrors in the bathroom. These are best cleaned last because of the condensation and steam that gathers while cleaning the sink and shower.

Replace your rugs, and your bathroom should be completely clean. This process sounds long, but it actually is rather quick if you do it daily. The process gets easier every single day because the bathroom is so clean.
