Creating a beach themed bathroom is really a rather simple thing to do for most people. All it takes is thinking about your favorite family beach trip and then reproducing it in your bathroom. Not everyone thinks about the beach in the same way, so each DIY beach theme will be a little bit different. There are some things, however, that any beach theme will certainly embrace. Here are some neat ideas on how to get that beach theme going in your bathroom:
The first thing that you need to get that beach themed bathroom is a color scheme. The color scheme can be sand colored, any number of shades of blue, or even white if you are so inclined. The color scheme will be what you build upon throughout the rest of the bathroom so you should take the time to pick the one that you like. Personally I like the sand colored theme with some nice blue trim throughout the bathroom. This sets off the right aura for the room.
Once you have your color scheme in place, then you are ready to bring in the actual props to make your bathroom beachy. Start off by getting a nice fisherman’s net from your local craft store. These decorative nets look remarkably like the real thing, and are wonderful to hang from your bathroom ceiling. Add some seashells, starfish, and other beach like props to the net to give it that authentic feeling.
Next you need to find a really nice shower curtain to add to the room. You could go with a simple color that fits your color scheme, or you could always go with a beachy design directly on the shower curtain. Either way, you will want to ensure that it keeps with the theme of the room. Add some floor mats and toilet covers that will match up nicely.
If you have a large bathroom, then you might consider a nice large display counter table. These tables allow a large flat surface on top that will let you display any number of beachy knick knacks and collectibles.
For those that like to use all senses, you might consider putting a wave machine in the bathroom. This sound of heaven will play waves crashing onto the shore while you take a luxurious bath. Also, add in some beach scented candles to round out the senses shattering bathroom experience.
