How to Clean Tile

Tile is a very popular type of flooring. Whether your kitchens and bathrooms consist of tile or your entire home consists of tile, one of the things that you are going to need to worry about is cleaning it. This is no different than any other type of flooring, of course. Here are some of the things that you should know about how to clean tile.

Before you even attempt to clean the tile, it is important to make sure that the floor has been entirely cleared first. This means that you should pick up any clothes or towels that may be on the floor. Also be sure to remove any rugs prior to beginning your cleaning. It may be a good idea to shake them out so that the dirt from the rug is not going to be put back in the same place all over again. When clearing out the room, you will also want to move garbage cans or waste baskets.

To remove the surface dirt from the floor, the easiest thing that you can do is use a vacuum. Whether you use the entire vacuum or simply use the attachment to clean the dirt, this will make cleaning tile go a whole lot smoother. You will need to vacuum the floor once every one to two weeks.

Create a solution that is half warm water and half vinegar. Pour the solution into a bucket. Mop the floor with the solution. Once you are done, you will need to fill a second bucket with warm clean water. After you wipe the tile down with the vinegar solution, you will need to go back and mop it with the clean water.

Keep in mind that you do not need to create this solution, however. There are products out on the market which are specifically designed to clean tile. Investing in one of these products to clean your tile can make your life a whole lot easier. Unlike the vinegar solution, tile cleaning products do not have a strong scent. This will make the whole entire room smell a lot better than it would if you were to use the water and vinegar solution to clean the tile.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that when you finish cleaning the tile, the floor is going to be very wet. You will want to avoid walking on it, and also advise your family members or anyone else who lives with you to not walk on it either. It is also important to avoid putting any carpets that you may have in the room back on top of the tile before it has dried. If you do, it will cause them to become moldy over time.

Cleaning tile does not need to be a challenging process. It is something that you are going to need to do on a regular basis, however. Just like any other type of flooring, tile needs to be cleaned fairly often. Depending on how often the tiled room in your home is used, it may be necessary to clean the tile two or more times per month.
