Advantages of Above Ground Pools Over In Ground Pools

Gone are the days when a swimming pool meant a rectangular white tiled indentation in your backyard that a contractor has to personally oversee for completion. With so many kinds of swimming pools available these days, you can certainly take your pick. Besides, not all of us have that huge backyard space to place the in-ground pool in.

So you want a pool, right? But what kind of swimming pool do you want exactly? First of all, there are two kinds of pools: above ground and in ground. When it comes to convenience, price and limited space, above ground pools are far better options. But when it comes to durability and lifespan, in ground pools score higher.

poolAlthough both options can be well worth your money, this article details the advantages of above ground pools over in ground pools.

One: convenience is the name of the game. Certainly, when you order above pools, these are already manufactured and ready for shipping. You can choose from a range of Exerswim fitness pools, hot tubs, kiddie pools, portable spas, sauna baths, swim training machines or any ordinary adult pool that may or may not come with heating. So if you count the ordering process, the shipping / delivery time, the pool installation time and you compare that with the amount of time you would need to find a pool contractor, the actual digging of the in-ground pool, the tiling process … well, you get the picture. You can see how much easier it is to order a pool than have one made.

Also, if at some point in the future, you decide to get another kind of pool, you can easily do so. All you need is a couple of friends to disassemble the first one and place in the new one. You can always sell the first one, which needless to say, you cannot do with an in-ground pool (unless you sell the entire house as well.)

Two: definitely above ground pools are a lot cheaper than in-ground pools. But don’t get your hopes up, at least, not just yet. Buying a pool is always a pricey business, and you have to remember that a pool needs additional equipments, paraphernalia and structures like: cleaning implements; covers; pool liners; stairs, slides, and diving boards; lights; steps and decking; and water heaters, pumps and filters. Above ground pools can easily cost you $700, and that is exclusive of shipping and delivery costs and the costs for other equipments, paraphernalia and structures. In-ground pools, on the other hand, may start at a down payment of $2,000 easy, but as time passes (because construction takes a long time), that price can reach into $4,000+++, depending on many, many additional factors. And if you think that is where your expenses end, you also have to consider the cost of maintenance and the other equipments necessary for in-ground pools.

Three: if you have a very limited space, then above ground pools may work wonders for you. Although most people opt for large above ground pools, there are just some of us with a backyard as big as our garage (if we are lucky.) Having such a limited space should not hinder anyone from getting a pool, especially if you can afford one. Some of the smaller pools available are Exerswim fitness pools, hot tubs, portable spas, sauna baths, and swim training machines. Now these aforementioned pools, despite their relatively small size, do not necessarily mean that they are cheaper as compared to the others. In fact, Exerswim fitness pools and swim training machines are the most expensive above ground pools there are.

Installing an above ground pool is definitely more economical than building an inground one, and it’s a lot less permanent too, so you don’t have to worry about the people who might want to buy the house after you passing because they don’t want the safety issues of pool ownership.

I’ve seen a lot of above ground pools made to look like in-ground ones, too, simply by having a deck built around them.

I agree. There are so many to choose from. Not only can you get inexpensive Above Ground Pools, but you can also get Saltwater Chlorination for them which makes them even more enticing to swim in. I have seen the Intex Metal Frame pools with the saltwater generators or some gorgeous wood frame ones if you want to shell out a couple bucks. Or you could get the plastic ones that you can take down when the summer is over and you’re not using it anymore.
